Easter Friday Maid day off?

Post by Steve1960 » Tue, 15 Apr 2014 12:31 pm

Can anyone comment on maid etiquette for this coming Friday?

Our Filipina (Catholic) maid has every Sunday off but I wondered about Easter Friday. Should I offer her the day off or pay her extra if she chooses to work that day?

She has not requested the day off and I only expect her to attend Church on Sunday.

Good Friday is a big deal for Filipino Catholics. Whichever you choose, she will surely appreciate it.

Thanks for the tip not being very religious myself I was not sure.

I will offer the day off and additional pay if she doesn't want it.

Yes day off with no pay difference if she doesn't want it I will pay her to work that day so pay increase for the month.

Seems the fair thing to do.

As it is a Christian gazetted holiday here, and she is a Catholic, it is one day that is very important to them. (my wife is also a Catholic). She will appreciate it if you just give her the day off and pay her salary as per normal as if she had worked.

And you all just got a bit more respect and probably and an extra willingness to lend a hand when you really need it. :)

As Easter is a stat holiday for us, we asked our (Catholic Fillipina) helper if she'd like the day off or an extra days pay.

She chose the extra pay.
