Singapore Tourism Board's cringeworthy video

Post by zzm9980 » Tue, 08 Apr 2014 11:16 pm

This is so bad, like 80s bad. They've already taken it off of their Youtube channel because it's so bad.

I can not watch it for some reason but it must be good. Everybody is talking about it now. Nobody would bother if it was just a regular ad. Mission completed.

That is sooo bad... couldnt stand watching the whole thing.

The amateur videos here ( like NEmation, Total Defense) are usually top class. So cant believe this one is a real ad made by professionals in Singapore.

It was actually made by the Philippines branch of Singapore Tourism Board. So it was definitely not made by Singaporeans, despite the fact it was made IN Singapore.

Quote from MyPaper

STB had partnered Philippine television network ABS-CBN to produce the video as part of a promotional campaign on Singapore, "in an effort to customise content for this (Filipino) audience", said Mr Oliver Chong, STB's executive director of communications and industry marketing

So basically you're saying gahmen made a shit ad, and twist it around to blame it on pinoys (hated foreigners!) instead of themselves? Right, convenient. because I'm sure not a single Singaporean had any creative control, oversight, or veto on any of the video's content.

I personally know people from ABS-CBN and I know the network can produce quality output. That dubbing and story is not representative of the network's capabilities.

I strongly believe this is a case of garbage-in, garbage out.

Or maybe the hapless people put in that project intentionally made things cringe worthy to make things ironic.

Are you sure it's dubbed?

I didn't say that.
I just quote what was report in the newspaper and how the words were use.

But I'm not surprise they put the blame on others.

And you thought the STB ad was bad?

This one from Singtel tops that and is vying for cheesiest advert ever produced here.

Voice was definitely added after production so yeah, it's dubbed.

Wikipedia wrote:Dubbing, or re-recording, is a post-production process used in filmmaking and video production, in which additional or supplementary recording occurs after the original recording stage.
