CNY weekend entertainment

Post by Steve1960 » Wed, 29 Jan 2014 3:33 pm

Any suggestions for things going on this weekend?

Cultural, markets that kind of stuff, for Mum.

We are going to grit our teeth and join the crowds at China Town tomorrow afternoon / evening. I believe there is a festival down at Marina Bay Sands starting Friday and the zoo is open every day of the year according to their web site.

Anything else happening?

Esplanade also sets up colourful floats and decorations along the seafront for CNY. Here is how it will look: https://plus.google.com/113900850850474 ... jizqBmZc4P

That looks nice thank you. Day time visit worthwhile or only after dark?

Trying to accommodate a 75 year old and a 3 year old!

You mention you plan to visit Chinatown tomorrow afternoon / evening.

Beware on the crowd. Tomorrow is the CNY eve, the crowd will be extremely crowd especially getting late during night.

You can bring mum to The Istana which will be hosting guided nature walks of its grounds on this Saturday's Chinese New Year open house.

It will be held at half-hour intervals between 10am and 4pm.

If i remember correctly, they are priced at $4 for SCs n PRs and $10 for other visitors like us.

Hope this helps :)
It is better to believe than to disbelieve. in doing, you bring everything to the realm of possibility.

Try Gardens By the Bay - they're open 9:00AM - 9:00PM daily….this might be an easier tour for someone on wheels, and the CNY exhibit is pretty….Having been to Chinatown yesterday and this morning, I'd say no thank you to any further doings down there til after the celebrations...
