Aeroplane noise

Post by JR8 » Tue, 26 Nov 2013 3:38 pm

Happens a few times a day, just happened now.

Terrible racket for several minutes (I can still hea a rumble now). I've lived in proximity to major airports before (and indeed Changi) but nothing like this 5-10 minutes of really blasting it noise.

I live McRitchie ... so am rather perplexed what it is...

What is it B52s, some missile programme?

I just watched a couple of fighters fly past the city. Perhaps it was them doing some sort of training run.

Just for the record:

No, it's not fighters doing runs over. Earlier was very different, and went on for minutes, hence my puzzlement.

They have a jet engine test pad nearby. Tie those engines down to a concrete pad and open 'em up.

Really? Well that was the kind of sound. Just like throttles up, and no sense of the noise source moving.

Loud though, if it is that far away phhh!!

I listened to the same stuff for 15 years that I lived in Seletar Camp. They had engine test bed facilities at Samco at the Seletar Airport. Used to hate that as you couldn't hear yourself think, let along try to hear the TV. (Old black & whites with 14' ceilings and no barriers).

Curious. I've been here a while off and on. But can't say I've heard a noise like that before (not here or anywhere else - it was most unusual).
