Rules for EP Tightening Yet Again

Post by Strong Eagle » Mon, 23 Sep 2013 10:08 pm

I see that the local bird cage liner (or one of its variations) has posted a news article which states that MOM is again tightening up the requirements for getting an EP.

Effective next Aug 1, all firms seeking to hire people for $12,000 or less per month must first post the job on the MOM website for a minimum of 14 days. Firms that fail to do so will automatically have their EP's denied.

In addition if a firm has "disproportionately low numbers of Singaporeans at the PME level", it will come under "additional scrutiny", which would include providing org charts with nationality.

Low end EP minimums are being kicked up to $3,300, effective Jan 1.

I know how difficult it was to find good local talent for $150,000 per year. I think this is also going to seriously hurt employing EP's in the $7-8K range... techs and such.
