Singapore newbies meet and greet!

Post by nilsw » Sat, 10 Aug 2013 7:50 pm

Hi all,

as there are quite a few threads now for/ from Singapore newbies, I thought perhaps we could organize a little "meet and greet" during the next couple of weekends?

I am one of the newbies, as well. I'm 28, originally from Germany but lived in various countries in the past years. I just moved here last week for work and also look for contacts who'd like to hang out, explore the city, have a drink or whatnot..

If anyone is interested, feel free to either just respond or drop me a mail or hit me up on facebook. I'm sure we could get something organised!

cheers, Nils

Ladies and Gentlemen,

A 130 views and no replies. I think we can do better than that! :)

I actually did get a few responses via mail but apparently no one wants to answer first in this thread. Let me do this for you than!

Why not consolidate all the individual threads and try to get a bunch of people together that have a common aim: meeting people and expanding their social circle!

soo.. who'd be up for it?

That's what I did with my Weekenders thread, if you saw it, btw...but apparently most everyone is just too shy to post anything there...

I think often people don't reply unless there is an event, date and time listed. I've noticed a lot of people saying 'yeah, lets do stuff' (thats what the forum is for after all?) but no one makes posts with decided time and date so people less likely to reply to say they can go?

I'd be up for meet and greet! 26/f/uk here. Where and when?

Abby

Don't worry guys. Just go and organise something. Eventually replies will roll in. Some people are just shy to say it in open that they are coming, but will send PM to tell you instead.

No one? Not really, I've seen a few in the 30's club. Poc4hontas' brunch club (which is unfortunately dormant for now) and SGSlinger's Tuesday Bar Quiz. And of course the WNDC as well as FNDC. People do turn up, though they never mentioned anything in the forum.

20's club however, is quite seldom...I guess most are transient, and will leave SG quite soon after (as you are, apparently for staying here only for 3 months), or they've made enough friends in their own new circle.
