SG Citizenship - approved

Post by 2013insingapore » Tue, 16 Apr 2013 10:18 am

Hi all, I am new here, my citizenship application has been under processing for more than 7 months now, and two friends who applied at the same time were approved, so I am getting a little concerned.

I am Chinese, have been studying here since 13, been to Sec, JC, Uni. Applied for citizenship few months after my graduation from NUS. I work for a Singapore registered company but run projects overseas, I have been in Europe mostly over the last 1-1/2 years, I do contribute to CPF and pay my taxes here. I have submitted letters to ICA explaining my absence from Singapore.

I am recently married, husband is also Chinese, NUS graduate, he has just gotten his PR approved, so couldn't have applied SC together with me. We both earn decent above average graduates salaries.

Appreciate any advise or input.

Cheers.

If your Husband is already a PR and you have spent that much time here and are still working for a Singapore company it doesn't really matter that you are overseas, as long as you are being paid by your local company and the assignment is temporary in nature, then you would still have a good chance I would think. Especially if you income levels are elevated somewhat above the norm. But you are going to have to just wait it out, which, the longer it drags on, the more depressing it gets. Chin up. Good things often come for those who wait.

However, even if it is rejected, that doesn't mean the end of the world. It took me 4 years, an application, a rejection and another application before I got mine.

You'll make it eventually. Race, income and (presumably) an ability to bear children (sons for NS) work in your favour.
Now I'm called PNGMK

Thanks all for the reply! It is a pretty nerve-wracking experience, especially when friends who have the exact same profiles as mine were approved months ago. I hope they can understand the situation, I sometimes hope they could be more transparent in the process, like hearing people out, give people the chance to clarify, rather than just looking at some documents and make a decision. (Maybe I am ignorant of their process).

BTW, eun_212, for my experience, it was hardly an interview, i was asked to show my documents, like education certs, and CPF contributions, and asked how long you've been a PR, and they just tell you that you are qualified, you can apply, that's all, it took like 2 mins.

FaeLLe, you know sumtin', somehow I completely misread the OP original post. I guess the husband is already a PR threw me a red herring. That and somehow it read over the fact that she has been paying CPF (PR or SC only).

:oops!:

Me? citizen? Nah, 31 years as an adult here doesn't make me true blue so I don't want it.
