Bringing music to Singapore

Post by Pominoz » Wed, 20 Mar 2013 5:21 pm

Hi all,

Can you bring copied CD's into Singapore when you move, i.e. in your shipment? I have some music that I downloaded ages ago (on my old laptop which since died a death so I don't have the original anymore), and burned to disc, but I heard that discs that are not the official one are not allowed (even if you downloaded the original music legally).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Highly doubtful that you will have any issues unless you are bringing in a container load of CD's.

As I understand it...

In the UK I can buy a music CD from a shop to keep at home. I can then legally make a separate copy under 'fair use' to keep in say my car, or holiday home.

I am not seeking to defraud anyone. Just using what I have paid for, where and when I need it.

That principal seems reasonable. But importing solely copies without owning the originals, might be a different thing. Don't know, just thinking aloud re: the principals involved.

Have you checked the ICA website?
