as a Vietnamese, thanks for guys have nice compliments :)

My advices is in Vietnam, particularly big cities (e.g: Hanoi) be really careful, watch out your belongings: wallet, passports and etc, always ask prices first (hope they know what you are asking about). I highly recommend other more remote places like Ninh Binh (with Cuc Phuong national forest), Ha long bay (very tourist oriented now), Sapa, Hue. Wish you have good time there

That is as true as me trying to remember Western names =)
I always put big attention to remember Western names like friends or classmates, interviewers and etc... but its not always easy. Always feel bad forgeting their names the next time even they still remember mine.

The trick is word association.

Someone called John - look at that person and visualise him with little round glasses, a beard, long thin face, Japanese wife standing next to him - John Lennon.

Richard - King Richard aka 'Richard the Lionheart'. Standing there in his crusader tunic with a red cross on white, and a lion next to him.

And so on. Do it within the context of your own culture. Close your eyes for ten seconds and 'make' this new person someone memorable.

It really does work!

p.s. If you've ever wondered how a person can go into a room, introduce himself to 12 strangers, and then remember all their names, well, this is how!
