calling all Belgians!

Post by alittlerisky » Tue, 22 Jan 2013 11:26 pm

Anywhere I can buy Jupiler beer here? Just came from a year in Brussels, and its my favoutire beer. Don't like Heineken, Carlsberg etc, and the local beer is crap, IMO.

And maybe Hoegaarden, Duvel and trappist beers to. Then Singapore will be perfect (after i track down some biltong... see Saffas thread)

Cheers

I haven't tried Jupiler, but you can get Hoegaarden and Duvel in Cold Storage.

It IS going to cost some pretty serious $ though. So be forewarned. Though in my experience beers like that you might have one, or perhaps two of, rather than a night out and twelve pints...

re: biltong. How about making your own. It can't be that hard.

I, and along with several others, get headaches from drinking the local beer---and that's just on the second glass. The headache won't even wait for the following morning.

Chinese beef (pork) jerky/bilton. You can get it *anywhere* in Singapore. You see those shops called 'Bee Cheng Hiang' every 50m? That's what they sell. Yes, there really are that many. Singaporeans like to overdo things. It's also why every mall has a Toastbox, Gong Cha or Koi, Crystal Palace and/or Din Tai Feng, Pasta Mania, etc....

+1, except for me it's on the first.

They even have a name for it - Tiger Head.

Strange that Singha doesn't do this to me.

I am currently savouring a delicious Czech Budweiser 'So far, oh so very far away' from it's US namesake'...

And queued up in the fridge for later is another Czech beer, Staropramen.

Heaven truly exists :)

I've been getting the same lovin' from Tiger so I also prefer to drink other brews. Funny thing is that Anchor is quite ok and I enjoy it thoroughly.

None? I'm sure you can find menu options that aren't unhealthy, but that's not the same as healthy...

And now that the Chinese New Year is approaching, bakkwa will be flooding like mad! Every bakkwa stores will have sales and promotion, and you will eat until you will beg NOT to be given any more of it.

At my workplace, my vendors and clients are started giving bags and bags of fresh bakkwa. The problem is that they are made fresh, so there is no preservative in them so we have to finish them off - pronto!

I believe Oosters does Jupiler. The food is decidedly average there, but decent selection of Belgian beer.
