They're not allowed to do it like this where there is a guy with a bunch of crap, right?

License plate intentionally not blurred if someone feels like reporting it.

Well, the builders of Legoland Malaysia put this little gem (along with a ton of others) in the Singapore diorama.
"A quokka is what would happen if there was an anime about kangaroos."

You may as well report to LTA yourself. It is very dangerous for them to put someone like that with those stuff!

I used the "report" function in the LTA iPhone app, but it is more for road problems.

just wonder how would you suggest we ferry these workers about then? unlike the western world, a scooter/car is prohibitively expensive, and taking the bus/mrt isnt exactly efficient in carrying such a big group of people who have to be at a certain place at a certain time.

Something with SEATS... you know... a van or a bus. Gotta love the Singaporean mentality. Buckle up the little ones in a car seat or get a fine, but it's A-OK to toss in half a dozen anvils, 25 sheets of plate glass, and a dozen workers into the back of a truck/lorry.

The two construction sites that sandwich our current condo ferry their workers with buses. It's super effective!

Seats and buses! Yes, I heard that those were making their way from the western world into other cultures along with some other extravagant luxuries like electricity and employment laws....

i hate playing the devil's advocate... but i don't think there're enough buses to shuttle construction workers to work from their dorms during peak hours.

and some oeprations/businesses are too small to hire a dedicated bus service for a few employees. a company truck is cheaper.

finally, private bus drivers may choose not to ply such routes as the workers may dirty their buses with dirt and smells... resulting in later non-construction worker passengers complaining... yadda yadda...

the picture showed in this thread is probably old and before legislation was in place to ferry workers correctly - all lorries and trucks now show that yellow "HOW YOU SHOULD/SHOULD NOT SIT" sticker.

it's not correct, but heck, at least transport is provided... would you rather they pay $4/day (ouch) taking SMRT buses driven by SBS drivers?

No, I actually took it about an hour or so before posting this thread.

then you have the hassle of parking the bus, paying for it, maintaining it, and then we have stingy expats complaining about the high cost of living here on retail, housing, etc.

you want to start throwing assumptions around, hell, ill join in too. here in australia i cant even ride in the back of a pick up because the government says its too dangerious. so that means now, either i buy another car with more seats, or sell the pick up and lose the ability to ferry goods around.

Because hiring a bus is not an option. Right. Poor the economy that relies so impactfully on a bunch od low educated foreigner workers and whether their employer pays few extra dollars a month to transport them like humans rather than like cattle.

of course its an option. end of the day, higher cost to consumers. if consumers are willing to pay the higher price then, go ahead. but people in singapore seem to think its too expensive.

We have lots of dormitories around where I work on Toh Guan Road East. The amount of buses used to transport workers back & forth are enormous. Between 6 & 7 pm in the evenings it's nothing to see 20 buses dropping workers off at the dormitories. So a lot are doing it, but not all seem to have gotten the message. It's mostly the small bit players who still use trucks as they just don't have the numbers of employees to make is economically feasible.
SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers
