Poppy Appeal - Where To Donate

Post by Saint » Tue, 06 Nov 2012 10:26 am

If anyone is wondering where you can donate and get a Poppy from I know a couple of places, one in Siglap East Coast and another in the CBD. There are many places you can actually get from so PM and I'll let you know where these places are.

Really starting to tread on thin ice.

Which reminds me, ksl may show up as well as I think he's either back or gonna be back later this month, but he will be dry due to his health problems.

Poppy seeds are illegal in Singapore!
However, you can get them at some Burmese shops in Peninsular Plaza - not on display, you have to ask at the counter. These are the white (Indian) kind, not the black (European) variety, which I found nowhere.

are you serious?

my wife just fedex'ed (delivered in 3 days) a giant box of bar soaps from the US... including, i believe, 5 or 8 bars of soap with a good dose of black poppy seeds on the top.

she asked me last week before placing an order if they were illegal and i told her "no."

I am serious!
Because of Singapore's very strict anti-drug rules, and poppy's relation to drugs (not all seeds contain opium, but a custom's officer cannot tell), they are banned altogether.

Yes I've been told this as well.

p.s. Though I can't say I've ever met anyone stupid enough to try and get high by eating poppy seed. What next they outlaw hemp rope, or nutmeg (good source of amphetamine, if you eat enough of it)

That would be a very weird episode of Breaking Bad.

RIP Clive Dunn, aka Corporal Jones.

How I wish they could make quality yet non-gratuitously-sweary humour like that these days...

To be precised they are not banned per se and can be imported but you will need a proof of analysis that the opium (controlled substances) content is below the restricted level.

I know you guys are experts at derailing threads but you've surpassed yourself this time by within 12 posts going from a serious thread concerning Remembrance Sunday to illegal drugs to the demise of Clive Dunn RIP

It's a variant of Godwin's Law with some six degrees of separation thrown in--except of Nazis/Hitler, we have how far the train derails in the shortest time possible.

What should we name it?
