If you are moving up through the traffic lanes and you see a white Volvo station wagon with a white M-B in front....(and a lot of traffic hanging back for no apparent reason) DON'T overtake them. You'll give the protective detail in the white Volvo a heart attack. It seems a certain elderly gentleman lives in fear of motorbikes going past his white M-B. You've been warned - this is something the locals know but I had to learn the hard way (well - not so hard, I'm still here to post about it). The reasons are apparent when you think about it.... the same reason there are NO motorbikes in Assad's Paradise Syria.

(Note - sometimes they use white Prado's as well which are very rare on the roads).

there'll be usually be at least blue and red blinkers, (and on the SUV) an LED sign mounted behind the glass on the back of the rear escort vehicle - flashing the words POLICE VEHICLE KEEP CLEAR.

i often see the old monkey in a W220 merc, escorted by an S80, an XC90/60 and a motorcycle gliding home rather slowly through tanglin and orchard road.

these plain clothes guys actually drive/sit in their volvos with the doors half opened and arms and hand stuck out sometimes, demanding all traffic from the side roads NOT move.

thats the polite way of putting. i could think of a name that would be more fitting :p
