Chances of getting PR

Post by Science1 » Wed, 10 Oct 2012 6:20 pm

Hi All,
Planning to apply for PR in SG. Would like to seek your opinion in obtaining PR status here in SG for self and spouse.
I am 31 year old Indian Female. M.S (Electronics Engg.) from NTU and PhD (solar cells/clean energy) from NUS. Staying in SG since 2006. Now working as Researcher in NTU for last 1.5 years. Q pass with salary 4.5K per month.
Married for 6 years now. No children yet. Although spouse is on DP here but his work profile keeps him overseas for 6-7 months a year on ship. His salary 9K per month.

Plz advice.

Thanks

Who would be the main applicant? I think you can apply and see as a family. If rejected wait for few more years and try again.

Read other threads to get fair idea on the current status,so that you don't keep very high hopes after the application.

Good Luck !

Gaaargh - solar cells and clean energy in Singapore? Nope. No need madam. (yeah yeah I know there's a bit of it here but it's tiny compared to the other stuff going on).

Some maths:
Base chance 100%
race -70%
NO Male Kid -10%
Salary -20%
NO P1 -20%

I will be very surprised (happily though) if you could get a PR in current conditions

Considering your qualifications are under utilized and your husband can work from anywhere really I would look for a better job elsewhere and leave Singapore.

Hi all,

Have gone through other threads, but wanted to ask the experts specifically re. chances of getting PR.

Husband:
Doctor, 28 ,Indian, in Sg since july 2008, paid tax for 4 years , working and underwent specialist training and received masters(MRCP) in Singapore, worked in govt sector throughout. with awards and complements from hospitals. salary 100K/year, P2 EP
Basic degree from reputed college in India and recognised in singapore

wife:
Indian, Phd student at NTU ,26, did masters from reputed european Univ, stipend 2.5 K per m , Indian , valid student visa till 2017, in singapore for 1 year

Married for 1 year, no kids yet

Chances of getting PR for both applying with husband as primary applicant?

Doctor has high chance of getting PR, Singapore is short of medical professionals and they are trying hard to attract oversea doctors here so I would say may get PR or citizenship very fast. But please do not abuse the system and move to US after getting your PR, enough has been done to damage Indian migrants reputation everywhere, if they keep seeing people abusing the system, they may completely stop granting Indian PR or citizenship and that is very bad for others.

I stumbled into another expat forum (but for several countries. Most posts were by Indians and Pakistanis asking how to get certifications and stuff so they can migrate.

Yet another 'what are my chances of getting PR' question.

I had a lengthy discussion with the third party company we use here for payroll, employment passes, visa's etc. They are a pretty big organisation handling some major companies.

They didn't have any better knowledge than is on this forum. The basic summary was that any appliaction will be at the mercy of the Government and there is no way to predict the outcome.

There are things we can do to improve our channces. I think I have seen it elsewhere on this forum. Writing a substantial letter with all the reasons why one wants to live in Singapore and what one can offer Singapore by being PR is highly recommended. Having paid some tax is also advisable.

I am 51 years old with no degree education. However this third party said that in my favour is that I have been employed by the same company for almost 13 years (mostly in the UK), I have a senior position whereby I can influence company growth here and I have a high salary. They suggested I wait until next April when I will have been on EP for 1 year and paid some tax then apply and cross my fingers and toes!!
