Ah what a weird connection you made between Johnny Cash and NINJR8 wrote:Funny, I came to Johnny Cash via the Nine Inch Nails. Who wrote 'Hurt'. It was of course a er... terribly dark kind of anarcho-smackhead track. Hence all the more poignant being covered by an old established and establishment man.
Here is an earlier NIN version, '94. They were better, or even weirder and more intense perhaps in the 80's, but I don't think there any vids of them from back then...

Ah, the song of a tortured soul. NIN's felt tragic but Cash's version gives it a different dimension. It must've been flattering for Reznor to have had Cash cover one of his songs.JR8 wrote:Funny, I came to Johnny Cash via the Nine Inch Nails. Who wrote 'Hurt'. Isn't it just. I'd love to know the story of how JC came to cover THAT track almost right at the end of his life.the lynx wrote:JR8 wrote: Ah what a weird connection you made between Johnny Cash and NIN
Thanks. Up till today the only NIN song I know of is 'Closer'.
Flattering? Last time I noticed, Reznor was probably beyond registering the hands at the end of his arms.nakatago wrote:Ah, the song of a tortured soul.
