Advice for Experienced I.T. Business Analyst

you guys won't believe this, I got another offer, which I'm taking at a major bank here to be an IT Project Manager. I am signing the contract today. This was the quickest interview cycle in Singapore I have seen. They called me Monday for an interview on Tuesday. They let me know this morning!

It is a contract job for a year, but this gives me banking experience and more PM experience in Asia...

This has to be my lucky week, can't explain it...

Does being non white cause a problem?

Doesn't matter, in Singapore, unless your employer is an off-shoot of some PRC group, or you are servicing PRC clients.

I am still perplexed why there is such a big hype that to work here you need to know Mandarin.

VP is not regarded as a 'top position' in banking. It is what would be akin to say junior director in other lines or work. In a company as large of Credit Suisse there are likely a few thousand of them...

There is only 1 C level as I didn't do my rigorous search to locate more ..

JR8: the VP thing is debatable and anyway, the list I published was from a Volunteer group ..

I know companies where there are VPs for every 10 people, and also where there is a VP for about 1,000 heads ..

I don't work for CS or Citi so I cannot backup the Citi VPs or CS VP ..

In my experience banks work on around the same ratios. That is why you'll see job ads describing a position, and then saying that is it AVP, VP or SVP level etc...

Just admit you're wrong, it would be simpler
