which subscriber's prepaid sim card?

Post by singapore123 » Thu, 17 May 2012 3:08 am

hi,

I have a 6 days trip scheduled to singapore. I want to buy a prepaid sim card that costs economical to me coupled with fast internet data services. Which telecom company can provide me with the best tariff plans?

Thanks..

Waiting for an immediate revert!

Singtel, Starhub, and M1 are your three options.

http://info.singtel.com/personal/commun ... data-packs

http://www.m1.com.sg/M1/site/M1Corp/men ... 5a230aRCRD

http://www.starhub.com/broadband/onthem ... epaid.html

All roughly the same price. I'd go with Singtel personally, as their service is the best of the three. Be aware though that's relative as the service in Singapore is worse than most first world (and some third world) countries. As an amusing anecdote, the Starhub page isn't even loading for me right now.

Also, don't pay for any of the faster speeds, as you're unlikely to actually achieve them in most locations.

Immediate reply ? Prepaid and Data plan don't go in the same sentence .. it will kill you to use prepaid data ..

I haven't found it to be that bad. $7/week for 1gb of data. Even with my frequent email syncs I haven't hit anywhere near that.

1 GB, IIRC. Singtel

Correct, Singtel. Just bought it 2 days ago. Like 18$ for the 3g card, added $20 right away, then $7 for the 1gb data. Been happy so far.

Even their $25/week plan is good if you consider the standard data roaming charge for many major carriers around the world is about US$20 per megabyte.
