Folks,

I am considering a job in Germany, however wanted to know whether it is possible to take our maid along during the relocation ? Any suggestions ??

Wouldn't it be better to contact an expat forum in Germany to find out what the immigration requirement for taking a maid would be?

You can of course get her packed into your household goods container together with your other belongings to be shipped ...

No, seriously, no European country I know of allows such slave-like conditions as are standard of maid contracts in Singapore. In addition, it is very difficult for a non-EU citizen to get a work visa in Europe, especially for a low-skilled profession like cleaning.

Yes, it is allowed in UK. Read
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... icworkers/

But I have no idea about the laws in EU, can't be that difficult to find out?

Good luck

The intention of the above is to allow people to travel with the maids while the OP is going to move to a country for a job what is a long term stay. I bet no EU country allows this.

What they don't say is the maid will be entitled to the minimum salary which is law in UK....which will be possibly 10 times the amount she earns here...probably same in Europe....not such a good idea now eh

That's the least of it, the government will probably give her a benefits bonanza plus a 4 bedroom villa in Kensington

Maids can get in. Some ex-neighbours of mine have a Pinay maid, although to my knowledge they never lived in Asia. And, my immediately adjacent previous neighbours in London, SGns, have a Pinoy/ay (family) housekeeper and cook that I understand they brought over from SG long long ago...

Minimum wage, Max 35 hours a week. Medical insurance - A real bedroom, eating with the family etc etc etc.

I got a friend that has an au pair and she had to buy him a car as well to collect the kids. And he works 20 hours a week. Does no house cleaning and no weekends.
