Not only that, but it is illegal to have your FDW clean in ANY place except the place noted on the Work Permit. Employer can be banned from hiring maid in the future if caught. Maybe MOM will read this and stake out the Uni's now.

In which case it sounds like NTU are facilitating the law being broken.

In our Halls of Residence at Uni we had a cleaner come in once a week to clean the rooms.

Maybe said spokesman thinks that it is quite normal and only thought it was an issue when the press asked about it.

Or rather, he is trying to wash his hands clean by making this comment.

Hold the phone. Why do local kids need to stay in dorms at all??? Stay at home, have the maid continue to clean your home room, problem solved.

I couldn't wait to get away from home; just far enough to be out of sight, but close enough to be able to drop the washing off for Geoffrey the butler to scrub each weekend....

Yah, I always found the detachable wing collars far too tedious to scrub and starch myself.

I also never liked that he refused to open the car doors for me. Had words with mother about that, and subsequently I think he got a jolly good dressing-down....

Blame the parents who treat thier kids like a precious jewel. With maids around the house, these spoit brats can't even lift a finger to tidy up thier own room. Some parents never bothered to ask thier kids to have at least sense of belonging in thier own house. They treat thier house like a hotel and expect maids to do everything for them.
In fact even the expat families who have maids are now following the trends of grooming lazy childrens.
This is a desease has been plugging the young generation since maid starts flooding in.

Well this is the land of cheap foreign labour after all. And it is even cheaper to have a stay-in maid than to have a part-time one coming in on intervals.
