That's exactly what attracted JR8 to the post initially!

My wife referring to one yesterday remarked, 'I don't get it, what is it US$15k? It's a really auntie-bag'.

Why not just go and buy a fake one, doesn't seem much more or less of a scam (fake image, fake waiting list, fake demand at any $) than the real one.

I had to look this up to figure out what it was:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birkin_bag

I'm pretty sure I've seen the exact same thing for S$29 at Mango, but what would I know...
Although the Birkin bag is free of logos, it is one of the most recognized bags in the fashion industry and by the public.
Yep, just rip off the Mango logo, and same thing!

The bag also has a variety of hides such as calf leather, ostrich, crocodile, and lizard.[4] One of the most expensive is saltwater crocodile skin. Bags with smaller scales cost more than those with larger scales. The bag is lined with goat-skin. The color of the interior matches the exterior. Prices for the Birkin bag depend on the color, hardware fixtures, and skin.[5]
Wow... How much for the one lined with the skin of 40 nubile... nvm.
