EP Approved - One Way Ticket?

Hi All

My EP (P1) has been approved and I am wondering about the formalities when arriving at Singapore.

I will soon be relocating to Singapore along with my wife. However, she does not have her dependent pass yet. I will apply for that after I arrive in Singapore.

I am pretty sure that I will only need to get a one-way ticket for myself. But, how about for my wife? Can she go on a one-way ticket too?

Why haven't you applied for your wife's DP already? Better yet, why didn't you apply for it in parallel with your EP? That's the most common route.

Now that you have EP, why not apply for DP before you get here?

Sorry that I didn't bother replying to SE. With all due respect, I just find the tone arrogant and demeaning instead of genuinely trying to help in a friendly manner.

Why couldn't the reply simply be - Yes you can because blah blah blah.. or no you can't because blah blah blah... or simply I dont know. Asking more questions than answering them. I am even more surprised to see that SE is a moderater. Geezz.. not great confidence.

We have the same problem with people who claim to be smarter than the average bear, but cannot use the search function for a question that been asked at least a hundred times if it's been asked once. Different strokes for different folks. Do you have a masters?

Arrogant and demeaning? With all due respect, whomever gave you advice for applying for a DP gave you bad advice.

Moreover, you did not provide sufficient information for anyone to make an informed judgment of what might be required.

I find your tone to be assholian. Good luck. You'll need it.

Must have been. I do know that you can apply for the EP & DP's all at the same time. Of course, lots of companies are hesitant initially as they don't seem to realize that it's even possible. The DP's are always contingent on the EP being approved so if you were to look up the DP status is would should pending until it's approved, which would be upon approval of the EP. The LoC works the same way on renewal of an EP's pass as well.

That would be correct. All people who have ever worked for me applied for both simultaneously and that seems to be the norm in most MNC's. Just helped a guy with a PEP who also applied simultaneous DP's for wife and kid. All approved at once.

FYI you only have to have approval in principle in order to fly with a one-way ticket; that usually happens pretty quickly. A while ago I lost my EP (which they like to see at check-in) and the airline (Emirates) simply gave me a return ticket, unconfirmed, not paid for. This was enough to satisfy the bureaucratic immigration in Singapore..
