Yeah, I reckon the terrorist attempts will be stepped up in spite in the short term, but I think the figurehead going down will be a huge moral loss to al qaeda.

This seems quite an insightful early summary. I look forward with interest to analyses of 'where Al Quada will go from here' when there has been time for writers to digest the news.
OBL had deputies, so was replaceable. It would be good though if this somehow staunches the flow of his Saudi funding of terrorism.

Looks like the corpse (or possible corpse) has been thrown to the sea, so this won't be possible....

They would have been better off trying to capture him alive - now that he is dead, al que ad have a great martyr they can use for further propaganda and recruitment - and if you know what happened with Jesus Christ
- they`ll end up writing a book about him

^^Look, when they enlist 12 year olds as suicide bombers, they can hardly need more impetus to blow-up free thinking, free people.

Don't you suppose that every government official, from the President on down, wanted to capture him alive? That they did not suggests that for the military personnel on the ground it was not a possibility. Very hard to second guess folks in the middle of a mission with bullets and bombs going off.

It's quite strange about the body being 'thrown to sea' as some reports are mentioning. I saw pictures of his 'dead' face on the news today. If they got those pictures - assuming of course it isn't a body double - why dispose of it?

I stand corrected. The purpose of the mission was to kill, not capture. As to speculation regarding burial at sea, all an attempt to prevent him becoming a martyr... and to smack bin Laden family in the face.
