Annual Leave in Singapore -how does it compare to Australia?

Post by dubplate » Fri, 21 Jan 2011 2:09 pm

Hello,

I am close to accepting a offer for a job in Singapore with a multi-national technology company.

In Australia - annual leave is 20 days + public holidays + sick

The HR person in Singapore for this company is advising me that in Singapore the normal annual leave is - annual leave 14 days + public holidays + sick and that for every year of work you will receive an additional annual leave

Is this the normal annual leave for technology professionals in Singapore?

Keen to hear from forum goers

Thanks

Actually it's not bad by local standards. The average starting annual leave for Singapore Companies not in the financial sector are around 10days/year +1 add'l/yr served. e.g., two calendar weeks/year + public hols (11/year - 12 if an election year - polling day) & Sick leave (14 days /years).

thanks for that.

do you know if many expats on local packages manage to negotiate successfully back up to 20 days annual leave + sick + public holidays???

or is it one of those things that is very hard to change?

I am on a local contract, I have 22 days annual leave.

I have been at the company a long time though.

Our New starters get 10 days

I get 24 days a year on a local contract for a MNC, the lowest level people get 21. A local company would probably give less
