Dependant Pass Appeal

Post by tristanmin » Mon, 22 Nov 2010 9:55 pm

Hello,

First of all, I am an EP holder and have been working here for almost 1 year.
Last a couple weeks ago I've applied DP for my wife.
Unfortunately, her DP got rejected today.
So I called to MOM to know the reason. Instead of giving me a reason, mom officer told me to submit appeal letter from my boss and clear copy of marriage certificate.

Could you please someone help me what should my boss write in appeal letter? I've tried to search it online but only appeal letter I could found is EP, SP and PR.

Thanks in advance

DP is almost automatic unless:

a) You don't have good proof of marriage, like a marriage certificate.
b) You have a same sex marriage.
c) Your employer refuses to support the DP application.

Do what they say. Supply a valid marriage certificate. Confirm that your employer supports the DP. And... oh... make sure your spouse will be living with you.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I submitted the marriage certificate.
And also my boss signed the Form 12's Part 5.

Are there any additional letter needed from my boss?

Thanks

That's probably the reason why DP was rejected as they couldn't read your marriage certificate

Maybe he should write that you both are really married and that he will be responsible for your actions (this second part might be trickier).......

You can also show the officer copies of your wedding album like the USA consulate asks for in dependent visa applications.

Get an attested copy of the wedding certificate from your local consulate and enclose that as well.

Thank you all. I've submitted the appeal letter and marriage certificate yesterday. Now only thing I can do is wait and pray.

Thanks again!

Wishing you success but please understand that praying about this is a waste of your energies.

Not if it keeps him/her grounded and out of a place of fear and stress... then prayers perform an important job.

Hi there...

I have traveled in the same boat and can completely empathize your situation...

Nothing to worry as long as you have your documentation right...
Make sure you express it well in the document,
Submit as many supporting documents as possible !!

While I shared a copy of marriage certificate, appeal letter (clearly stating the scenario), house rental agreement, letter from me assuring for the financial support (might be redundant...)
However, Documentation speaks quite a lot here...

Waiting time of 3 weeks for DP Approval...

Wish I could have seen your posting earlier for an elaboration... However, DP shall be approved without any hurdles...

Cheers !!

Three to five weeks. Depends on the MOM. No one can say exact time in this case. Sometimes may be earlier than what is specified on the website

Thanks
