Hi Blue Sapphire,

May I know where are you from? If you come from Indonesia (JKT), I would suggest that you brother could start with Obagi Clenziderm System. 3 easy steps.

Each set costs about SGD150. There's a Obagi centre in JKT with a certified trained doctor from Obagi.

The doctor may prescribe him with oral medications to help his acne as well.

Both my brother and bf have bad cases of acne. Thou' some scars are still there, but they no longer have any breakouts at all.

My bf has really bad skin especially. And he also continued with Obagi Nu-derm set, and it allowed his skin to regenerate collagen and build up resistance against external factors like bad air etc.

Thereafter, he tried 1 blu-peel session, and his crater face is almost 70-80% better. Til' date, it's been almost 1 year, no more oily skin and no more breakouts.

You may wish to visit any doctors that does carry Obagi products.

miraj wrote:i agree phototherapy works! my skin used to have terrible acnes. it's pretty uncomfy cause you tend to lose self confidence and you cant show your face much? and it looks horrible. then one of my friend recommend me to a clinic and then i tried it. its just a bright light shinning on your face for few minutes where your pimples are and then after awhile you'll instantly see that the pimple dries up. the effect is pretty impressive.its mainly for killing the bacteria that causes breakouts. though you have to do it like about once a month i think?, the pricing and how often? i cant remember. if anyone wants to try the clinic i went to? just search for Prive Clinic. hope it helps :)
Anyone has any idea how much a session of this cost? Is it ideal for teenagers?

Hi Blue Sapphire,

What the doctor told me before , this phototherapy thing doesn't have any side effects even for youngster.cause i was also concern on my nephew and nieces that's quite active and prone to acne. what i know is that it's safe. if im not wrong, the session was around $90 or something. as what i mentioned? how often will be depending on the stage i guess. mine was a terrible case so i come often and they don't give me anything but acne solution first for angry pimples untill everything dries up and then advise me to continue my own products that will not cause the bacteria to spread and never pop it. in reality it's quite difficult to do but i did it! :). Reminder never touch your face with finger tips.

hi lovebear,

can i ask how often and how long did you go for the phototherapy thing? because for me i have to do it like twice a week for one whole month to see the result that was during the severe case of my acne supported by the normal facial products to protect my skin from irritation, then gradually i went down to once a month maintenance.

Try Dr Loke Skin Clinic at Novena Med. Ctr.

Dr will prescribe pills such as anit-biotics or other oral medication.. Its fast & effective! Howver, too long period consumptions of those bills will have adverse side-effect!

Better use Acne Skin-care pdts; which is safe & not pricey!! :)

doxycycline.. like minocycline and tetracycline. Same family of antibiotics. You can't take it for too long as your body will build an immunity to it.

Most females develop acne due to hormonal imbalance. Perhaps try the contraceptive pills like Diane or Yasmine.

i used to have acne on my face, neck & back. now it's all cleared.

i used to doctor Eileen Tan, she's a dermatologist - specialized in treatment for skin.

i used to see her at Changi Hospital, but i think she has moved:

When things are expensive, you'll think it's good. Don't.

All you need is doxycycline, a variation of tetracycline. It is cheap and good. To suppress a heavy outbreak, take 1pill once after breakfast and 1 after dinner. Once the immediate flare is over, just take once a day. Very mild side effects. Any doctor can prescribe you these. Polyclinics are way cheaper but you spend 2 hours waiting so it's your call.

Topical cream: there are two kinds: the retinoids or benzoyl peroxides. The retinoids are effective, but they cause this sunburnt effect on areas you apply. I use benzoyl peroxide, choose the 5% formulation. Just apply lightly over affected areas before you sleep. Wash your face before that. You can get this at any pharmacy.

Sleep early and drink more water.

Gosh I sound like my mom.

I went to a skin specialist and the doctor gave me a medicine which contains the active ingredient Isotretinoin. The side effects were dried lips and skin, but the acne reduced significantly!!! :)
