Working permit/ PR? moving soon need help

Post by vegasripper2004 » Fri, 09 Jul 2010 8:51 pm

Let me start by saying Hi.
Im Jason Winter.
Im an American/Canadian Citizen living in the Philippines.
Im a Highschool Graduate with no work experience what so ever.
im 20 years old.

I was looking at Jobs online, and kept scanning through "call Centres" because well im an EXTREMELY hard worker, but i havent stepped foot in a college. i Speak pure english / Tagalog. so i thought that it would be the best place to start.

and as i was looking through it all said "singaporeans or Singapore PR only".
Does that mean if i were to

move to singapore
rent an apartment
and apply at a call center, i would just be rejected?

what kind of jobs would i be able to apply for when arriving?
Basically i will be going there with only about. S$5,000.

So what im actually asking is:

Would it be impossible for me to find a job there?
Would i be able to apply at call centres with a hope of being hired?
If i were to rent an apartment there and find a job, the company issues the working permit correct? would that fall under "spr"?

thanks. im in a massive rush because ill be leaving for there the start of august.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THOSE WHO CAN GET BACK TO ME.
my heads about to explode from confusion.

sincerely,
jason Winter

oh and please be soft. i know that me being a high school graduate may harden things for me, but im consistent, and will keep hunting for a job.

the things im having a hard time understanding is if i were to go there,

the work permit
if i could apply at jobs requiring "singaporean PR"

ive already been to singapore on MANY occassions
my father use to do lectures etc there.

You want it straight up?

You ain't got a snowball's chance in hell.

The best thing you can do is stay home and get a further education. While there are those of us who have found jobs with only High School educations, it's because we have either the income levels or the experience that gives us the income levels necessary to get an Employment Pass (P1) which is the only one that you don't need tertiary educations for. That one you need a basic salary of S$7K/mo and you ain't gonna get it without heaps of experience.

A work permit is not SPR. PR is Permanent Residence, a Work Permit is only a work permit. You lose that job, you get two weeks to pack your bags.

Save your money.

my advice to you is get a degree in the Philippines and get some experience first before you decide to come to singapore. There are many singaporeans who are in your current qualifications. you need to build up your resume first.

OH if you are following a gf, you better think twice. If the girl really loves you she will understand your situation. comeon singapore is so near you can come here every weekend if you miss her :) lol
