Hi,
I am looking at tax rates and note that if my contract goes through with my company, I will be in Singapore for less than 183 days for this tax year (2010) Therefore I will be liable for the 15% NR tax rate on my income.
I note that if you are in the country for less than 60 days you are not liable for any tax.
This sounds way too simple to me, but if you leave the country every 60 days (for a min period of time?) can you avoid paying NR tax? I find it hard to believe that people just pop over to Malaysia for a weekend to do this but what is the bottom line on this regulation?
I understand that once in the country for >183 days you are a resident for tax purposes and therefore only pay resident tax rates ($7800 on $105K sounds good to me!)
Thanks.
