Women Hair Loss

Post by chixchix » Sat, 17 Apr 2010 10:18 pm

Hii all, lately my hair has been dropping quite a bit.If i put my fingers through my hair, I will see some strands in my fingers. Just after shampooing ,when I dry comb my hair, they fall on the floor. literally see them everywhere... I have been stressed for the past 2 weeks,

Should I just buy a hair loss shampoo like Phyto or should I go see a trichologist ?
Always have a smile on that face!

I read that MSG can cause hair loss.

However, this is only something someone told me, I'm not sure how true it is but it'd probably be worth looking into.

Sometime back I start losing quite a bit of hair for no reason.

After a while it just stopped! I didnt do anything much but changed shampoo. Dont know why or how, but it helped. :D

I have the same problem. My hair was dropping in heaps and was becoming a little sparse that I got worried. Seen a few derms and GPs, who commented that since I am young and got thick hair, hairloss is the last thing that I should be worried about.

Made an appt at the National Skin Centre and saw Dr Joyce Tan (who specialise in hair and nails, as I was told), who ordered blood tests, to check for disorders such as thyroid disorder, hormonal imbalance, etc..

Results showed everything was fine and I was told that since the hair loss is nearer the crown, I was probably suffering from female hair loss pattern. Was prescribed Minoxidil to apply twice a day.

It does aid in reducing hair loss, and I do see new hair growth. But on the flip, once you stop, the hair loss will return and whatever hair that had grown will fall off upon usage.

Had been on this for 2 years, when I decided to stop it abt 3 months back, as I did not want to rely too much on this "drug". Read pretty great reviews on a holistic shampoo and serum, which is pretty expensive. But many had commented that its great.

Will feedback in due course :)

There are alot of factors that causes hair loss. hormonal changes, due to chemicals used to dye the hair, even too much blow drying, pollution, diet, medical illness, stress and even genetics. so you might want to consider looking for any related things that might cause your hair loss.what i know is that each individual loses hair but it should be around 50-100 strands per day. if you think it exceeds to that? please consult a physician.

"Crown: The Crown refers to the area at the upper back of the skull. The Crown begins at the point where the top of the head begins to curve downward to the back of the head and ends at the point just above the Occipital bone. It is a semi-circular area.":)

Minoxidil to let go

Post by Pursuit » Sun, 08 Aug 2010 4:49 am

Hi guys,

I have 3 boxes of brand: Growell (ingredient: Minoxidil 2%) and 2 boxes of brand: Minoxi 5 (ingredient: Minoxidil 5%) to let go. All these are dispensed by National Skin Centre to me for my hair loss problem.

I have since stopped using it as I am preparing for pregnancy.

Anybody who are currently using Minoxidil can get it from me. I am letting go at prices lower than what I have got at National Skin Centre.

Growell (Minoxidil 2%):

National Skin Centre price: $32.10
Letting go at: $24 (ard 25% off)

Minoxi (Minoxidil 5%):
National Skin Centre price: $52.97
Letting go at: $40 (ard25% off)

I am willing to meet up at MRT station. Thanks gurls and guys in advance.. =)

you should try to consult a specialist before buying any hair loss shampoos..

I've heard lots of awesome stories about Nutriol from Nuskin but I've yet to see for myself if it's really good. My female friend of mine has thin hair and is really worried that she might have suffer from pre-mature baldness. I've read up on few articles and realised that most hair loss is related to a poor thyroid function. Hence, I would recommend getting a thyroid function test as it is critical that you know what's causing your hair to thin. A healthy pore should at least have an average of 2 strands of hair. There are many triggers or factors that can cause hair thinning and things like pH imbalance is one of them! If you realised that pH imbalance is what's causing it, I've a home recipe that might be of some help. But I would recommend that you figure out what's causing your hair to thin before you try out anything! =)

P.S. I strongly recommend using ORGANIC shampoos.

Hope this helps.

If u go to the doctors, they will always say its female pattern hairloss.. How could this be when there is no history in my family? And my siblings hair are thick..

I contribute this to stress factor, and then the hair follicles jus shut off n hair doesnt grow back.

Only way is to do hair transplant.

I had my hair loss due to stress as well ard 1 year back. I avoid all food with MSG now & replace MSG with fenugreek (which is good for hair) to enhance the flavour when I cook. Green tea is also excellent for hair growth.
I opted for a herbal hair loss treatment using indian herbs & ayurveda treatments cause almost all chemical products does have side effects & I want a natural option.
Don't know whether you've heard of Neeta's Herbal- I used their products & went for the weekly treatments intensively for ard 6 mths. During the first 3 mths, my hair fall was reduced & dandruff was gone. I can see the new hair growth after the 3rd mth when they compared the close-up of before I started & after the completion of the 12th treatment. My hair is now back to normal with not much hair fall compared to that stressful time in my life.

Don't stress out that much...

Found this thread quite interesting as I have noticed really many people in Singapore, especially female hair falling out, one would expect botak men, but not women.
I see the medical field play it down on hereditary though i doubt it very much, more like something in the food, like MSG, which is overused. My own hair is also much thinner too since coming here :???: Hence my interest to find out what is happening, as i do not eat MSG if i can avoid it.
Though some say its my age, though my father had lots of hair in his 80's
