I guess you're not too familiar with how beef gets to your table, but there is no or very little standing around in pastures for grain fed beef cattle, if any. 95% of all beef is fed corn which is fertilized with fossil fuels. No thanks.

Well, that last post was a bit of head-scratcher wasn't it?

Ah well... to each his own.

Hmmm... Where I'm from cow-food (i.e. grass, in fields) is fertilised with pig-shit, thrown out from a pig-shit-ometer attachment on the back of your John Deere or Massey Furguson

Can we have an accepted school of thought?

'That I don't give care a damn about the future, I am here for max 80 years, and am gonna max it out?'

I guess it's news to you, but the vast majority of beef or farming in general does not work on the integrated model you describe. Earl Butz pretty much saw an end to that.

As far as this goes:

'That I don't give care a damn about the future, I am here for max 80 years, and am gonna max it out?'
No we can't. I can accept some people feel that way, but grammatically it makes it sound like it's accepted by a consensus, which thank goodness it is not. Count me out on that one.

If you want to buy good beef here in Singapore, including Wagyu Beef you can try here: http://www.vicsmeat.com.sg/index.html

They also sell good old fashioned pasture fed beef as well.

They have a downloadable PDF pricelist as well. I haven't tried them personally, but maybe somebody here has and can give us a thumbs up or down? If they are good, I'll throw 'em on my links site but I need input from our readers here!

Reminds me of the .... er, the extraordinary butcher I used to go to in expatland back in the 90's in Tokyo. So tastefully called 'Meat Rush'

It expanded into a huge expat supermarket called Nissin. Still displays a plaque proudly proclaiming that the Imperial family use it. It does have a very impressive selection of meat - much better than when it was Meat Rush.
In Singapore I'm a big fan of the Butcher in HV. Not cheap but has the best sausages!

Issit!?

It was the weirdest place.

I seem to recall it was housed in a mock tudor building or something

Re Nissin: Yeah, they knocked down the funny little place, rebuilt it and made an extension, huge area on 2 storeys. Forgot to add - has a fantastic wine section on top floor too.

Hey ho... it was like stepping off a tokyo street into a mock-tudor slaughter house.

They were what I would term 'no shit' butchers. I.e. get in, place the order, fill the order, get out :)
