Red Glow in the Southern Night Sky--[RESOLVED]

Post by nakatago » Mon, 15 Mar 2010 2:52 pm

I sometimes see this, usually in the general direction of Sentosa (I don't think it's gas flares from Jurong Island because of our building's orientation). From afar, it looks like a big fire but it doesn't last as long as an out of control blaze. Anyone have an idea what it is?

From Sentosa's direction? The I'm not aware of a facility there that could produce flares.

Or we could take a stab at outrageous theories ourselves :D

Mobile Oil has flares at the refinery here on the mainland as well.

I also see it from Sentosa direction and from the location where I am staying Sentosa - Jurong Island is like 90 deg apart. More over, it is not always red, it could white light too. It started I believe within last 2-3 weeks what coincides with the Shell story but the direction is somehow strange.

It seems that Shell on Pulau Bukom is the most likely candidate.

Red glows are far sexier than white; they make me imagine that the merlion in Sentosa is part of the Voltron force. Or Singapore is under attack.

Now that I think of it, it could be a weaponized HAARP test fire.
