Will the TV from Japan work in Singapore?

Post by SuperJJ » Wed, 03 Mar 2010 7:23 pm

Hello all,
I will be relocating to Singapore from Osaka, Japan and wondering if my full HD LCD TV (65inch) will work in Singapore. I think with cable box and power converter it may work, but wanted to get your opinion.

The TV is only 100v, 50-60Hz.

Also, has Singapore turned full HD for it's cable channels?

TIA.
SJ

Japan uses NTSC for their broadcast standard. Just like the US.

Singapore uses PAL like the UK/Australia.

Check the specs of your TV online to see if it can support both standards.

Most electronics equipment is autoranging for voltage now. Check the label on the back of the TV. If it says voltage 100~240V then it can work safely in Singapore without a voltage converter.

Once again, go online and down load the specs! They will tell you all of this information.

Some cable TV channels are available in HD, but I don't know if all are yet.

We brought our tv here (from Tokyo, but it is dual-voltage 110-240) and it's fine.
