What I would suggest for you to do is to just save up enough money and do it yourself. And technically I don't think you need your PARENT per se, will anybody above 21 do if say they are your legal guardian? I mean, you're Singaporean right? So I don't think he can trace if the person is REALLY your legal guardian.

In a worst case scenario, just do what we all did in secondary school and forge your dad's signature on the paper (:

OR!!! borrow ID. as in, when they ask you for identification, give them the borrowed one.

It really all boils down to HOW BADLY you want to do your face.

If you want it bad enough, an age limit requiring parental consent won't stop you ;)

lemme know how it goes, good luck!
That isn't the most responsible advice. You are asking her to place the onus on some random individual. Like honestly... WTF. If she dies, the parents are going to hunt down every damn individual that they can blame.

If you are really desperate for the operations, convince your dad by showing him all the websites that you have gathered all those informations, including Dr Kao's website and emails.

Or just live with the fact that you only have to wait 2 more years. Or get your mum to sign it. You just need one signature, not both.

yeah babe, you're right, i'm sorry, that's really not the best advice I should be dishing out to an 18 yr old :|

It just something i would personally do if I needed a nosejob as badly as she says she needs hers. But oh well, if she's lived with it for 18 years, she probably can for 3 more.

I just understand how horrible it is to have parents who are actually AGAINST plastic surgery. My mum finds it unnecessary cause I already do quite abit of modelling? but she doesn't understand that i'm doing my nose for myself more than anything else.

I'm so super freaked cause my op is in like 7 hours and the thought of severing my septum while fully conscious is just petrifying. you know like, you can hear the sound of them going 'snip snip'? and I'm a pretty visual person, so the image of it is just killing me. I just refuse to do it under GA ):

I'll let you know how it goes.
SCARED!!!!!!

on a completely random note though, the sun rises really early here!!

I am a 18 years old Singaporean. My dad does not allow me to do nose and chin surgery with Dr Kao at Taiwan. He found bad information about overseas surgeons on newspapers. He thinks that overseas surgeons are very dangerous as they could run away with your money after they had performed surgery with you. So if they did a bad plastic surgery, I will not be able to sue or find them. My dad does not trust Taiwan doctors at all. He wants me to ask the doctor for guarantee if anything happens after the surgery which I do not think any doctor will guarantee for that. Obviously, my dad did not read this forum and find the reviews from patients (Eg. cupcakez, jamie82, Blissful09, angelfern, missugly, missuglynose, appletree, ranconan, Angeluv101, tanjhj) who have went through surgery with Taiwan doctors.:)

However, I have read all the posts in this topic and I find Dr Kao is really trust-able ENT plastic surgeon. I communicated with him through Emails and he reply every of my questions carefully. I asked Dr Kao what if the surgery had gone wrong, and he replies that he would perform a revision surgery with just minimal fees. Right now, Dr Kao says that I am less than 20 years old so I need parent consent before going under surgery with him. And I know that my dad will not sign the parent consent.:(

I am feeling very upset and depress right now.:( I hope to get rid of my current wide, fat nose and my unbalance chin which makes me real sad whenever I look into the mirror. How I wish I could live a really happy life and enjoy my youth days but now I am feeling depress every day.

I know what I want and what to achieve with my looks. And I know that I will definitely be joyful if I can fulfill my dream of becoming a better looking person.

I hope to ask you guys can advice me on how can I explain and talk through my dad to allow me to have plastic surgery with Dr Kao. I really do not wish to pass my days with awful feelings anymore..

You can PM me too...

Kindest regards
Right now, i think its best to enjoy your youn life and try to be happy, please dont dred on rhinoplasty so much.. at 18, i was outside hanging out with friends being happy. Rhinoplasty will not make u a happier person. It did improve my looks, but i tell ya, when im 18 and can have friends and hang out.. those were the better days. I look so different (im prettier) but i pay it with a price, and i dont really have friends anymore.
Can i please suggest to you, AND PLEASE TRUST ME... wait until your the year of age. Cuz u will not be stabled enough right now.. surgery brings ppl into insane emotions.. you need to be a strong person.. i can already tell your not ready... your dad said no and you're already depress.....
They age 20 as a rule for a reason.. and i really think its cuz doctors need to make sure the person is a adult. also im glad they put this rule to allow ppl to grow up and get emotionally strong... like me. =) In the end its your decisions... but to be honest.... 18 was when i was the happiest...

hehe ohh also i agree! if you work for two years now u will have enough to pay for your rhinoplasty..! i payed for myself.. i did not get my parents to pay for it

Im not sure how much my reply is going to help you in your decision. But I have been contemplating plastic surgery for my nose for the longest of time since I was old enough to be vain. haha.
And to put it simply, I'm someone who will do tons and tons of research and cover all grounds before setting my mind on a decision and doing it.

I was born with defect in some part of my nose passage way, hence I had always been using my mouth to breathe my whole life, cause the damn nose is always stuck! I chose DR KAO cause he's also an ENT Specialist.
And for the first time in my life, I breathe normally, this is one of the perks after doing my nose, but thats on a side note!

The most important and crucial reason why I chose DR KAO is because of his skill, I've seen many pictures of his work and am very impressed. I wish there was another word more apt in description.

Also, his aftercare is smth I must talk about. I've done another surgery with another doctor while I was in Taipei for another part of my face and I must say the contrast in aftercare treatment couldn't be more apparent. I have never met a doctor that goes the extra mile to show concern for his patients the way he does. I know it sounds creepy, but he gives me the feeling that he uses his heart to care. He is no way a biz man, unlike the feeling the other doc gives me. In fact I think he'll make a very lousy biz man. haha. Thing is, I don't trust easily. But somehow I trust DR KAO.

But whatever it is, convince your dad/mum first before making any decisions, they're the ones who borne you afterall.
Hope this helps.

Bbabymilo,

I know how it feels to look at the mirror and staring at your nose. I've been doing that for the past 5 years before I decided to go for plastic surgery.

If u read my previous post, u will find that I went to Taiwan without ANYONE knows. yeap, not a single person knows. And when I was about to enter the surgery room, the nurse asked me to fill in the emergency phone number in case something went wrong with my surgery. On that few seconds I felt very nervous and my body did tremble. "What if something does go wrong?" "How my parents will find me here?" I know my mom will be very depressed if she knew her only daughter died on surgery table *touch wood* choy choy choy..but it was a bit too late to back out. And after the surgery when I went blackout for two times, I did really feel scared to go missing overseas. As previously has been warned before, plastis surgery is not a joke. I know I cant be a good example coz I am too coward to let anyone know I went for surgery but at least you can learn from my experience that peace of mind is number one priority. After I went back from surgery, i still need to deal with insecurities during my healing process. I am really thankful to fellow forumers such as missuglynose and hello84 coz they have been talking to me often and it does calm my mind. But i did feel depressed (not so much now coz my nose is healing naturally) and started to question if my decision was the right one.

I have been considering carefully for the past 2 years and still questioned myself if it was the right thing to do..so I hope you can be smarter than me. And yes, after you're 21 you might be free from parental consent (I am 24) but still at least you need one of their permission. If u cant talk with ur dad, try to start with your mom. After all, parents want their children to be happy :) and yes, if your dad's problem is only about whether Taiwan doctors trustworthy or not, he can find us to do online chat :D . Eventho I cant assure you if plastic surgery gonna be your key-to-happiness, but I can assure you most Taiwanese doctors are professional and friendly (well, mine is Dr.Hsu so I will only speak for him.haha). and please do more research if you decide to do one. best of luck! :)

done!!

Post by missfoxxxy » Sat, 13 Feb 2010 2:00 am

HI!! my PS is done!! :D

I did it with Dr Kao under LA with silitex.

I think you all should go under LA instead of GA, you feel nothing and you can still talk while operating!! Plus it's cheaper. and you don't feel like crap after that. cause you;re pretty much conscious throughout surgery and you know what's going on.

I mean, I'm completely squeamish, so if I can take an interest in people sewing up my septum while under sedation, anybody else should be pretty much alright (:

Anyway, I just wanna ask you if you all put the ointment religiously, and if it made a difference, cause I kinda lost mine already (I know right, it's only been a couple of hours and I stay directly next to the hospital!! But I still managed to lose it -_-)

and what vitamins should I take? do you guys have any idea?

thanks!

oh the best part about being conscious is that you get to camwhore straight after :D

Yes the ointment is an antibiotic ointment, ask dr kao to prescribe it to you again. Also if you didnt bring any vitamins, you can pop by 7-11 at kangning apartments downstairs and grab the DHC Vitamin C. :)

gosh that ice pack brings back memories!! I actually brought it back home hahaah. I don't think those using rib can go under LA =/ but yea the downtime is so much less.

I think can ask Dr. Kao directly for ointments... I asked him for extra supplies e.g. Q tips and some other stuff he just took from his drawer to pass to me.
