What is the potential for Family Photography in Singapore?

Can someone give me an idea of what is the potential for opening a family photography studio?

If anyone else has one or knows friends that run this kind of business, please give me a fair idea of the chances of success here.

Bad. Brutally competitive market and consequently laughably low rates by Western standards, plus local tastes are pretty far from what you're used to catering to (cf. Chinese wedding photo shoots). There's a niche for expat-oriented photo studios, but it's already stuffed to bursting.

It can get depressing. So many amateurs posing as professionals, bringing the price down, way down.

Tried the idea in a small way, admittedly (serious hobby, quite a body of published work, etc.) within parts of the expat community - not worth the investment of your time, let alone anything else. I get more money from our travel photos through resellers rather than "family" pics which now I refuse to do.

I agree also with "notsoworthless" - lots of amateurs out there.
