I'm not quite sure if it's due to the doctor's skill or how my own skin is reacting, because I had a few surgeries before (not cosmetic surgery), and my surgery scar is always a bit raised and white in color, just like this epi scar no matter which scar cream I used.

haha... I know the feeling.

Look carefully at Dr Chuang's epi, I can still spot a little faint line, but I suppose it's much better than some obvious scarring, depending on your expectations. So be prepared, it's not totally scarless.

Anyway, next time we can go to Dr Kao for the nose, see you around in other threads soon

Hi huskyjude,

Not so soon but i may pop by to see Dr Kao when i'm in Taipei, haven't book appointment yet.

Don't laugh, but i'm concerned that by removing the rib, if next time i'm old & suffer from osteoporosis (touch wood) & fall down, will my bones collapse like a stack of cards coz short of one rib.

then imagine we go X ray, the technicain will be very alarmed & say, "Miss, do you know that you're short of one rib?" LOL.
So embarrasing.

Going to wait a while, seems they have successfully invented bone harvesting, so maybe there's a new alternative soon, perhaps?

You are a funny gal! You going taiwan in dec for holiday ah? Check out the place and keep us updated ya?

Just met up with one of my girl fren who worked in the medical line. She advised me to go Korea as Taiwan's practices are not that established yet. Hai.... you know the search process can be quite a tiring one.

I decided first on Dr. Nara but when I went to his clinic was quite discouraged by the photos that the nurses showed me as well as the thai girls that surrrounded his clinic - but he's quite a good deal for liposuction & botox i.e. he had good technical skills but aesthetics wise may not be my cup of tea.

Then I decided on Dr. Chuang but one of my fren say that Dr. Chuang is not an eyes specialist but a mammoplasty expert, then another friend says go Korea or Japan better. Of course i know Korea's better but cost-wise have to fork out quite a bit more not only for the surgery, but the airfare & accomodation as well. Dr. Park's fee (from Oz Clinic) is quite affordable but then i like Dr. Chuang's results better but as you have pointed out, there's still some epi scar for Dr. Chuang's results. However, Oz Clinic is not really that popular in Korea. Very headache.

I think Taiwan is good enough, double eyelid is a simple surgery, they have a lot of epi cases too as they're chinese, have plenty of cases to practise.

We also heard about some horror stories in Korea, language barrier, spent so much more money, cannot guarantee no scar, read that their magic epi also has some lines, it's just that from the photos, it's rather obscure.

huskyjude: Seriously speaking.. dbl eyelid surgery is not that hard to do, most experienced docs should do them well. Nothing against your friend, but when it comes to cosmetic surgery, i think taiwan has a pretty solid track record - especially for eyes. Just take a look at their tw variety shows and you'll see a lot of girls who've got their faces done.

There's no doctor who can guarantee you 100% no scar. As long as the skin is cut, and sutures/stitches used, there will be a scar, no matter what. It's just unavoidable. The question is, is it obvious enough for you to really notice it?

When it comes to rhino however, i still think it's still very much a raw, unperfected craft and most docs don't do it that good. But for dbl eyelids, much easier and harder to go wrong.

But if you ask me, i think Japan does the best dbl eyelids. Korea eyes all tend to have that cookie-cutter look to it (same with their noses).

Cersepn, you made a good point there.
I have lots of korean friends here, and their double eyelids look almost the same, thin lines --> nothing against the korean doctors, merely stating what I thinkk. Anyway I think the language barrier is a bit problematic.. My friend told me its quite difficult for a foreigner who's travelling alone in Seoul, let alone doing surgery. Well, if you really plan to do it in Korea, find a korean friend who's flying back home to tag along :D
