Good site/travel agent for booking flights to uk

Post by AFCChris » Sun, 18 Oct 2009 2:30 pm

Hi

We are booking a flight to the UK for Christmas and were wondering if anyone has any tips on good websites or good local travel agents to get flights?

We would ideally like to fly Singapore Airlines and are getting quotes of $1981 for the return flight. Would like to bring that down a bit if we can.

Thanks in anticipation

Regards
Chris

Keep looking at Singapore air for promotion.
A friend of mine just got his for $1500 travelling from now to year end.
Otherwise, BA is offering flights at $1600 return.
compare the prices at www.zuji.com.sg
You should be fine.

if you can book a flight really far in advance, air asia can be really cheap, I've seen it as cheap as $350 SGD. Right now if you book for around mid December and leave early January it's about 1,700 SGD

I suggest you to take a look first to websites like

http://www.liligo.com
http://www.farecompare.com
http://www.expedia.com

There are more, of course, but these look into lot of different websites to check who provides you better fares. These websites don't sell, just they direct you to the vendors.

In most of them you can also select a concrete airline

US/Europe based sites generally do a pretty bad job with ex-Asia fares. Try local fare search engines like http://airfares.com.sg and http://zuji.com.sg .

That said, these days I find that 95% of the time, you can get the best fares directly from the airlines' own websites. For the specific case of SQ, I can pretty much guarantee that you won't get better prices elsewhere... although teasing the best fares out of their site can be a bit of an art form.

If you had booked a couple of months ago with SQ, UK flights would have cost only $1,300 over the Christmas period. 1st October is generally when SQ put all their prices up, especially for December/January flights
