Stop ganging up on the lady or I'm gonna start using my all powerful delete post function. She has a legitimate problem.

Make fun of this post and I guarantee I will hammer it.

And your advise to the OP is SE?

I know what I would do which is the same as locals would do, kick up a fuss and report it!

Quite right . . . damnation to those suit-piece thieves. Little crime doesn't mean no crime . . . the bastards.

Caning would be too good for them!

hiromice wrote:My business suit got stolen in the office in Singapore :-| , should I keep it to myself?

Or let someone in the office know?
just as with the lady who complained about being "overcharged' i ask... how do you know that it was stolen?

once i left something at teh office and it was moved to "lost and found" it took me a while to figure out cause it was something really worthless and i considered simply "lost", to my surprise... someone from the office (a cold asian, i presume) made the effort to take it to the "lost and found" thingy.
hiromice wrote: I am foreign and new to the office, my boss is a VP, so whom should I report to about the theft?
i dont see how being foreign(er) and (i assume) high ranked is relevant...

life comes without a standard operating procedure manual, yet, i can give you a tip... report whatever to the relevant authorities. an illness to a certified doctor and so on.
hiromice wrote: what do they normally do after I report the case?

Please advice.

hiromice, are you that seriously clueless or you just want to appear "cute"? i mean, really... dont you know what generally happens?... they do an investigation.

now i understand when people tell me that i just keep going on and on and on... :-)

it is quite the thing to see it happening rather than to feel that people are just too severe to me hehehe...

Again, hibri2, I'd advise you not to make light of this gross infringement on human rights!

It is OUTRAGEOUS!

It is worth asking a PA or admin person who knows the office if there is a lost and found box. You can say that your jacket is missing, and you want to see if it was found and put there.

It avoids stating it was stolen unless you are sure. Though there does seem to be a passion for making Police Reports here! ;)

The other reason for speaking to someone with indirect power is that they hear a lot of stuff. It could be that other people have items missing from their office, and that draws a conclusion that a thief has visited, without the need for you to make accusations.

That happened when I was visiting a friend's office last week. Her purse was missing and she was sure she left it on her desk the previous day. When she told the dept admin person, she mentioned another lady on the floor who had a missing purse on the day before too.
