anyone did rhinoplasty using rib cartilage for > 6 mths?

Post by pinkhil » Sat, 15 Aug 2009 4:53 pm

Hi. Those who have done rhinoplasty using autologous rib cartilage for more than 6 mths, Can you share your experience with us? To make it convenient for you to type and others to see , can you help to answer following questions in order?

1, Are you satisified with your result now? When did u do the surgery

2, Any changes to your nose shape from after the operation till now? eg, lowering of nose bridge, nose tip become undefined as time goes by?

3, Who is your doctor? How much did he charge?

4, How long was ur recovering period

The reason i chose 6 months as a guideline is I have seen some ppl with terrible reabsoption after they did the autologous rib cartilage rhinoplasty. There is one girl who I personally know have almost reaborbed completely after her 4 mths of surgery! She is considering a revision surgery now.

I dont think anyone can reply you..
I am interested in autologous rhinoplasty surgery and have asked around.
No one has answered YET.

But I can tell you that autologous is the way to go for long term effects and has lesser concerns.
Just do it.

I am going to do it at Bumrungrad hospital.
Google it up.

I have already done mine using ear cartilage..

The initial result is good ..but now the result drove me crazy and it s only 4 month after ops..

i dont know whether it has to do with reaborption or the surgeon s technique.

I am desperate need someone to share with me abt rib cartilage as doctors i consulted all say rib cartilage is the only thing i can use for my revision..

any good doctors specialising in rib cartilage? besides for Dr Toriumi?

I d hope i can go for toriumi. but think of just of nose and putting me in debt for many years ,,i ll be like scared to death.. his work costs abt 50k sgd

one month after ops was like super nice . shape was vivian TSU ruo xuan.

nasal-labial angle greater than 90 degree .

and now the nose tip dropped, flatter, and more rounded...very ugly now.

can only be one reason.
the shape was wrong.
he included the swelling as part of the nose.
maybe not enough cartilage.

Is it possible to remove the cartilage implanted and replace with a silicon one? Have you asked the doctor abt this?

Where and who did your surgery? How much?

Another guess is that.. you skill around the tip is so tight that is compressed the silicone >.< I don't know! just making a wild guess!
Or....
Silicone implant rupture..

only ear cartilage alone as my original nose was not too bad ..so doctor said i dont need to use implant

They had shared their experience in the thread in details and dun expect them to repeat everything here again. Do your research, dun expect information to be fed to you

I am not asking her so because I want to do it too.
I just want to know if she is over charged and whether tha Doctor is reputable or not.

YOU KNOW?!

You have some personal feud with me?
Why everything I say you must start a rebuttal?

Am i targetting you? i am just asking the thread starter to go read up more on what's already available in other threads than to just start another thread and wait for information to be fed

Oh yeah?
Have you ever thought that she have gone to a doctor that might have charged her lower because he have no experience?
It's called curiosity, can't a fellow forumer get a little more detail?
And prevent the same thing from happening?

oh yeah?

Maybe i am not targetting you but your attitude.

You have not done autologous rhinoplasty and yet you ensure people that's the way to go for long term effects? Based on? Research on the internet? Not everything on the net can be trusted..little naive 18 yr old girl...

Plastic surgery is surgery involving big risk...and results differ from person to person. The way you reassure everyone, including mine regarding the laser treatments, it makes people think that you had done them before. But no...so why reassure pple when u have not done them yet?

Isn't it better for them to heed advice from someone who had been through it than to heed advice from someone who thinks she knows a lot just from doing research on the internet.

What if someone who heed your advice and do it because of your wrong assumption, who is to blame in the end? That someone who believes in you even though u had not done it before? or you who make people believes you? Ok, you might point the fault to the article you found in the end...but once the surgery is done and blotched, the damage is there already.

I rest my case. Nobody actually target anyone in this forum...and I am clearly stating i am not targeting you but your attitude

For your information, i ve already DONE MY RESEARCH on this forum before I posted the questions.

But it seems that those who did more than one year stopped posting anymore.

I am not interested in the details of how the surgery it carried out because i knew it very well as i was in the same ward with someone did rib cartilage when did my nose.

I am more interested to know whether it is an individual case such as my friend whose cartilage on her nose was like totally reabsorted after 4 months or it s a general case.

Dont be blinded by the short term photo ppl posted online. The nose shape may change after 3 months.
