On Obama I suggest this fits best:
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
— George Orwell
He aint special just his messages were simple and his acts to save the economy are now showing to be the same as every other country. He lost his chance for reform.
On the USA does this ring a bell:
We meet in the midst of a nation brought to the verge of moral, political and material ruin. Corruption dominates the ballot box, the legislatures, the Congress, and touches even the ermine of the bench. The people are demoralized. … The newspapers are subsidized or muzzled; public opinion silenced; business prostrate, our homes covered with mortgages, labor impoverished, and the land concentrating in the hands of capitalists.
The urban workmen are denied the right of organization for self-protection; imported pauperized labor beats down their wages; a hireling standing army … established to shoot them down. … The fruits of the toil of millions are boldly stolen to build up colossal fortunes. … From the same prolific womb of governmental injustice we breed two classes—paupers and millionaires.
— Ignatius Donnelly, speech at the People’s party national convention in 1892
It will take one large country to cut their losses and run from USD reserves and the stampede will follow. Your only hope is its an orderly retreat. On the plus I think it was the first month since Trueman was in office that Amercian saved more than they accrued in debt. Thats a big step. I think the estimate was another 125 years of that and you will be back to normal. Need to get rid of the 99c credit card culture, tax the wealthy, stop paying subsidies to farmers (last year it was greater than Australia's GDP), bring back your manufacturing base from China by targeting US companies that manufacture overseas and exploit foreign cheap labour, refuse to trade with China unless they float their currency, let shareholders have binding votes in large companies on salaries above a certain thresehold (as an example say $3m per year). Put a limit individual credit risk able to be accepted, stop structered equity products on homes, encourage a new currency reserve which is supported by a basket of currencies but includes a minimum amount of US assets, sell all gold assest for convertible notes to get the assets working. Gold is a not a valauble commodity its a currency based on predominantly fashion. Stop enagging in wars yourself and start encouraging other nations to do so so you can sell your arms rather than use them. Start a green revolution to wean yourself off oil (I.e petrol cars banned in 20 years, all frestanding houses to have solar panels, all new houses to have water tanks, solar power and be highest energy ratings.) America haa ther knowhow but not the political will. Change your sue culture and legal system. Get your convicts working. You have the highest prison population and incaceration in the world and I read on average including capital costs its about $50k USD per prison per annum. Get these bums working for the country. Cap foreign wealth funds from holding more than 20% of assets in listed or key strategic assets.
Bit of a rant but I actaully want america to be strong I think it was born of good principle but has lost its way.
