Need information

Post by Islena » Wed, 17 Jun 2009 4:27 am

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. In fact, this is the first forum I ever joined. I skimmed through the information regarding plastic surgery in Taiwan.
I've conducted a great amount of research and I decided to go to Taipei for plastic surgery. I want to get rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty with Dr. Kao. I have not sent him my pictures for evaluation yet, but he has answered some of my questions. I was wondering if anybody who had surgery with Dr. Kao can answer some questions for me. I would appreciate any feedback, information, and input from anyone.
I am half Korean and half Caucasian and live in the U.S. (Georgia- it will be a long flight to Taipei). I have a little epicanthal fold that I want to remove, increase the size of my eyelid crease (left crease is larger than the right), and I want the tip of my nose refined. I want a high eyelid crease and I also do not want to use my rib for my nose. I am fine with ear or nose cartilage. My husband and I plan on going to Taipei the beginning of December and stay for 2 weeks.

1) Does Dr. Kao perform regular eyelid surgery (not double eyelid)? How about epicanthoplasty? I really prefer to have only one surgeon for the sake of convenience.

2) Is it possible to achieve a refined and pointy nose tip without using rib?

3) Does Dr. Kao take into consideration the wants of the patient, or does he just do what he thinks is best for the patient? I understand that facial features must be balanced with a person's face, but I also don't want him to just do what he wants without discussing it with me first.

4) Does the Kangning Service Apartment have internet access?

5) Did you guys receive a consultation in person with Dr. Kao before the surgery? He said that he only does consultations twice a week and the times are limited. So does he basically assess everything with pictures?

Thanks in advance!

u dont have to tell us in detail right now until u feel better but i was wondering who is ur doctor in taiwan?
Hi Blissful09,

I've been to 2 different doctors in taiwan for a couple of procedures. I'm caught between sharing who my doctor is and not sharing yet cause 1 of my doctor has been really the sweetest doctor around.

Maybe after I clear some of my doubts? I don't want to affect my doctor's reputation without being sure what is wrong in the first place.

Blissful09: What is your nose like right now? If you don't have decent bridge height, which most asians suffer from, there is no way ear cartilage will give you results noticeable enough for you to be happy about it. The nature of ear cartilage is such that it is most suitable for augmenting the tip; it is a poor choice for building up the bridge due to its inherent softness and structural instability.

Btw, song hye kyo's nose is very well-done; if you want to get a nose like hers, you probably need an implant/rib graft to get that bridge together with tip augmentation. Unless you already have a bridge like hers :o

I've been a silent reader of this forum and have just returned from my PS trip from Taiwan. I've did quite a number of things there.

I would be contributing about the details of my trip here soon.

Just not at the moment as i'm still very depressed with my results and I don't want my mood to affect what I say about my results as I don't want to give an inaccurate account.

Aadvark, are you around this forum? Can I please have your msn email? I'm really depressed about my entire results and would like to seek your help in answering some question...

Are you able to leave your email here or something? Cause I can't pm you and I can't leave my email here as I'm worried people will know who I am.

Many thanks in advance.
i pm-ed u my msn email already :)
Next: Forehead augmentation, botox, RF

hi, for those of you who had rhinoplasty... did any of you get more than just nasal augmentation with implant? i'm looking to augment my nose with an implant (rib or cartilage) but there are also other things i want to do. i want to defat the tip, remove scar tissue, and maybe even reposition the cartilage. which doctor is skilled at things like that? i know that kao and hsu are good with rib, but that's just for nasal augmentation. are they good with fixing other details of the nose such as refining the tip?

please let me know if you have any idea... right now the doctors i'm considering are hsu, kao, chuang, or chang.

thanks!

eh.. it's quite clear that her alars were wider in the past. I guess it's not so obvious in that photo montage but take a look here.

No doubt, she already had a strong bridge, but it is quite obvious that she had her alars narrowed and refined the tip.

There's no way they can place the rib OVER the ear cartilage. To repeat myself again, ear cartilage is structurally weak. There is no way.. it can withstand having a rib graft over it; of course you could just do a revision, but that's quite silly since you should have just went for the full works (rib) from the start.

Btw, rhino.. is not like any other cosmetic procedure. After every rhino, your nose structure will be damaged. In other words, you're subjecting your nose to more trauma if you go for multiple rhinos. That's why you see the bad cases like MJ having that gross nose; it's cos the internal structures have collapsed after operating on it excessively.

If you already have a strong bridge, then you might be able to get a good result off ear cartilage alone. Why don't you email some of the docs and ask them if you can do without the rib graft. Oh, I saw your post in the purseblog forum. If you plan to go for rhino, you -should- expect a huge and dramatic change to a nicer nose, assuming the surgery is a success. There is no way.. you can expect your friends not to know.

^ i would die for her nose even with the "alars" "before" pictures~
Well i dunno i cant tell because she is smiling, and when all ppl smile there nose naturally flares. I already know the first picture isn't her, there was another site using that picture and everyone stated thats not her cuz when she was younger her teeth were crooked. I like her nose in her baby pictures (the site i sent u)
Honestly my nose isnt that bad.. i just want it more straight and slim.
You done your nose before right? How painful was it out of 10?

It isn't her? Oo ok. Anyhow, it doesn't really matter i guess. She was blessed with a naturally good nose; still that didn't stop her from going for more rhino so.. lol
Have you sent your pics to docs and asked them for their evaluation? There's nothing to feel shy about yea?
Nah i haven't done it. Still saving up for it :D

I'm guessing you're asian? It's "that didn't stop her from going for rhino"
Sorry >< i have a habit of correcting lil things. I'm not from Singapore but if you have enough saved by December you should join me! Split the costs and save money! Good luck saving! I already have enough. I'm going in December because i've been to Taiwan last summer... it was TOO hot. It's a good time to save anyways since December will be more chill! Better for my healing!!!! Lol

some people, especially african americans, have a lot of fatty tissue on their nose that prevents it from having definition. defatting thins the skin so that it can drape over the underlying structure to show definition.

Mylovemyway,
That is really neat that the tip can be manipulated like that. I knew it was possible, but I didn't know the official name for it. This gives me hope! I did quite a bit of research regarding good rhinoplasty surgeons and I think that it would be beneficial to go to either Dr. Hsu or Dr. Kao because they are both ENT's and they are experts with the nose's structure and can handle complicated cases.

^ agreed

it is much safer to have ENT specialist.

Dr Kao is known to be one of the NICEST doctors, and he likes to take his time off to visit his patience.
I've talk to Dr Hsu couple of times, he's quite busy and hasnt replied back to two of my emails.. =/ not sure if he got annoyed of me... too bad.. im actually a SERIOUS client who WILL get rhino done in the near future.

Thinking of getting my chin redone with Dr Kao.
Browse through the pages seems like everyone went to Dr Kao for nose, how is his skill in doing chin?
I had a slightly slanted original chin, which results in a slanted implant for close to 4 years, about time for me to redo it :(
