Mandarin Corner?

Post by kd » Thu, 21 May 2009 3:14 pm

Hi,
I have studied Chinese for several years and have lived and studied in China. I'm noticing that my spoken mandarin is slowly deteriorating through lack of practise and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a mandarin corner or a group that get together once a week to speak mandarin? Or any other way of keeping up with your spoken language besides taking a course?
Any ideas welcome...

Hi kd,

I speak Mandarin and "was" pretty good at it. I'm still fluent but probably won't be able to teach much but a conversation is fine. I'm a Singapore Chinese.

Same here, studied for 2 years, would love to keep it up.
Now all we need is a native speaker and we can have some serious talking get otgether. :)

That will be me! I wouldn't consider myself native but I grew up in a Chinese-speaking family. I write, speak and pretty much a master in hanyu pinyin, haha.

Feel free to write to me if you need help in Chinese. That's what I do with my American friend.

Ok guys, well I'm really keen to set up a group that meets once a week or once every two weeks and just speaks mandarin. Maybe have a dinner or an event or just go see a movie. Is anyone keen for that?

I can teach u Malay language (bahasa Melayu) if you are keen to. ;)

Count me in as well!! I'm facing the same problem. Studied Mandarin in China before for 1,5 year, but now my mandarin is getting worse and worse :(. Would very much like to use/practice it once a week or so!
