Camera equipment - retailer recommendations

Post by sierra2469alpha » Sun, 13 Jul 2008 9:40 am

Hiya everyone - do you have any recommendations for camera retailers. We're biting the bullet and buying another pro Nikon DSLR and two lenses. It's pro-line gear, so we're looking for a pro shop who are reasonable in pricing.

Thanks in advance! P & C

I have found Cathay at peninsular plaza, very helpful, all the sales staff seem to know what they are talking about and the shop is always full of serious beige, multi-pocketed vest wearing types.

There are plenty of camera shops in that mall, selling both new and second hand gear.

Though a photographer friend did say Hong Kong is slightly cheaper.

Cool, thanks lads - will check both out. I didn't get to Cathay yesterday, but for everyone elses interest: Southern Cross in Lucky Plaza were very helpful and friendly, but weren't big on negotiating; Aik Seng also in LP treated me with almost disdain - pretty unprofessional given it's a close on $9000 order.

Thanks!

For Hong Kong comparisons and to get a general idea of prices this is a great resource;

Are there any good second hand shops in Singapore? I'll be looking for an UWA lens for my Canon as my next purchase.
