Hi All:
My family will be moving to Singapore in July.
Overall not a bad deal, but I am on a budget.
The rent budget is Sgd 1,300.
I am moving with my 4 year old son and the wifey.
What sort of housing/condo/apartment should I expect for SGD 1,300.
Also, I am think of enrolling my son in a Singaporean school. Any suggestions on where and any do's and dont's...
Hope to hear from you folks soon.
Cheers,
Sandfly

This budget will get you one of the following:
- relatively large (2/3 bedroom) and well-equipped condo out in the boonies (Jurong etc)
- HDB of the same size in a better location but with much poorer amenities
- centrally located cramped little studio apartment
But remember that Singapore is small and "poor" location is a relative concept when it takes 30 minutes to cross the country from tip to tip. Where will you be working?

Hi All:
I will be working in the Tuas area.... quite far.
East Coast maybe a bit too far I think.
Thanks for the suggestions,
Sandlfy

If you'll be working in Tuas, then Jurong is the obvious choice. Your school options are a little limited, but then again, if your kid's only 4 years you still have some time to think about that one... and, come to think of it, will your employer reimburse school fees?
International Schools are very expensive in Sg.

EP ends 2nd. July. MoM asking Employer my future plans. Why?

End date of employment is 2nd July. I will stay 30 days, per usual MoM to tidy up loose ends. I will in fact be leaving Sg mid July.
Does it matter...

I guess it so you don’t overstay illegally and so they can have the data in their system. Much like a census.
