i think it's best that you send in your enquiry to SIA abt this.fiftycents.thoughts wrote:hello people. i am in need of some advices.
i went for the SIA walk in interview on 1st dec and miraculously, i passed all 4 rounds. however, when i went for the medical check up, i was found to have scoliosis and the cobb angle is at 25 degree. i think it's over the SIA standard and soon after, i received a letter from SIA. yea.. i got rejected.
i really wanted to join SIA so now i am thinking of going for an operation for my scoliosis. my doctor told me that no surgeon will want to operate on me because mine was a minor case, but i wanted to try anyway. i had done research on scoliosis operations, and to be frank, it kinda freak me out. it was mentioned that they will insert screw and metal rods to help correct the curves and after the surgery, there will be a long scar down the back which will fade a bit only after a few years.
i wanted to go for the surgery and go for the interview again. but i was thinking IF i managed to get through the rounds again, then i will have to do medical check up again. which means they will see the 2 metal rods through the x-ray. i was wondering if that will affect my chance to get into SIA because i had done an operation before? and the scar? i was thinking since i can hide it when i wear the uniform, so it is not very much of an issue. correct me if i am wrong.
PLEASE ADVICE! i am so desperate.
I am not going to make any bones about this; the best thing you can do is simply forget about applying to SIA at least as a flight attendant. Part of the medical examination consists of an x-ray as mentioned so often so SIA will doubtless be made aware of the corrective surgery.fiftycents.thoughts wrote: was mentioned that they will insert screw and metal rods to help correct the curves and after the surgery, there will be a long scar down the back which will fade a bit only after a few years.
i not sure about that. but mostly who cleared the med were having scoliosis less than 20 degrees. including me.fiftycents.thoughts wrote:really? but how am i going to go about asking?
all cabin crews cant have scoliosis with angle more than 25 degree is it? or is it only for sia?

agree with you. If can we singaporeGirl wannabes better go and have a check on Scoliosis first. If we really got it more than 25 degree....than at least we will stop trying hard on those rounds of interview...but finally we will feel like your dream/future is black out in a sudden....windancer04 wrote:can someone recommend a place to do a x-ray check for scoliosis?? Cos i wanna do a check myself 1st if not i will be as sad as 50cents. Hee.
This is the kind of post I call garbage; your situation will doubtless be different to the other people here so who are you to make such a statement? I doubt if there is any medical evidence to support even your own experience which at best will be temporary.chiro wrote:Don't be frustrated.
It can be cured within 3-6months without operation.
