Had my consultation this morning
The doctor was lovely -- very honest, didn't try to sell me anything or pressure me into getting anything done. He made sure I was fully aware of the procedure and consequences and told me to really think about it before I made up my mind.
He seemed quite surprised that I wanted to work on my nose as he said I had a very nice nose, which was good for the ego I guess, but I disagreed and said it could always be nicer. We both agreed my chin could do with augmentation, but it was too expensive. He mentioned that I had "nasal bobbing" which meant that when I smile, the tip of my nose moves and points downwards. He suggested botox to that area if I was really concerned about it, but then said "to be honest, the results are very subtle and if I were you I'd just save the money". Like I said -- no pressure at all!
The consultation took about 30 minutes, he was very patient, made sure he fully answered all the questions I had and even gave me new things to think about. Cost? $35, which I think is ridiculously cheap as seeing my GP for 15 minutes alone costs me $64.
The main things to worry about are infection and re-uptake of the filler. The doc was concerned that I had a previous infection from the implant and told me to really think things through. To be honest I *am* mortally afraid of getting infected but I guess at this point, that's the risk I have to take. He's put me on antibiotics from tomorrow, so hopefully that helps.
Re-uptake of the filler is another worry because there is no guarantee how the body reacts to it and how long it will last. He's filled a few Asian noses (he's Asian himself so he knows what I want) in his time and he reckons that it should last at least a year. However, he's also seen cases of the filler going away after a few months.
In the end I guess however expensive your treatment is and however experienced the surgeon/doctor is, things like infection and rate of re-uptake are really beyond one's control. It's all the luck of the draw I guess.
So anyway, I will be going ahead with the procedure next week. It'll be going in bridge of my nose, between my eyes and a bit of the tip to give it more definition.
I'm nervous as anything of course, but keeping my fingers crossed and will report back after.
Oh by the way, he asked me if I had my nose worked on by Woffles Wu. I said there was no way I could afford him!
