Ozchick,

Welcome to Singapore. Hope you will drop in often (join in the fun - we do have some even though your thread hear doesn't look like it). Oh, only one poster was upset. The rest of us. Well, we tend to help, take the mickey, chide and otherwise digress wherever except in the "Strickly Speaking" Forum.

Slightly different, but still on topic about costs of groceries or in this case cooked food.

There's a new Nasi padang stall open at Maxwell Food Centre.

Awesome food, home cooked style of Nasi Padang with a range of over 25 different dishes, veggies, meat, fish and side dishes.

Amongst them the most tender Beef Rendang I have ever eaten here in Singapore. And not expensive, as it is in the hawker centre there.

Absolutely worth a try:

Rosie's nasi padang @ Maxwell, stall 100.

Not advertising lah, but I sound indeed quite positive! :)

I am a craver for Nasi Padang, this one happened to blow my mind off, loved it!

Thanks for the unofficial review. Will check it out the next time I'm in Maxwell FC.

This one is walking distance from CBD.

What dishes?

Too much to mention! :D

My favs:

Sayur Lodeh (veggies in coconut gravy), Begedel (the mashed potato balls), Beef Rendang (malay spiced coconut beef, theirs is juicy and very tender, excellent), Sambal Kupang (spicy mussels), sambal goreng (mixed veggies with tahu, coconut stewed), sambal telur burung (spicy quail eggs), Ayam Sambal (spicy chicken, very very good), Kacang Panjang goreng (fried long beans), Ikan assam pedas (fried tamarind fish).

Furthermore, the sambal tumis over there is just awesome: spicy and sweet, goes very well with the nasi lemak in the morning for breakfast!

They have a nasi padang promotion now: 1 meat, two veggies and rice for 3 $.

Man, nasi padang? Any time of the day! 8-)

Thanks for writing down the names and the translation. All I know is the Beef Rendang. But I've been eating those dishes from another Nasi Padang place at the PSA Food Court. :D
