Local rock gigs

Post by miss_jay » Mon, 11 Jun 2007 11:47 am

Hey guys, I go to the local rock gigs and they're pretty damn good. I see lots and lots of expats and expats teens attending these. There's been one every month since March held at DXO (next to the Esplanade Mall) and the bands that play have got some skills.

One of the main bands are this band called Firebrands and they played with Tommy Lee in April and are playing in a big outdoor music festival in Boston in September.

Anyway, tickets to this local gig is pretty cheap, $10 - and you get to see like 5 bands or so. It's called Deafcon.

Let me know if you wanna go! Next one is in the first Saturday in July.

my email is [email protected] or you can just PM me here.

- Juanita

audiojunky wrote:Hi - I was browsing through the www.sistic.com.sg website looking for any international rock acts in Singapore and found ZERO rock concerts (can't really consider Olivia Newton John a rock act) for this year.

Does Singapore ever attract any international rock acts and if so, how often?
for Singapore those pretty much are rock acts......
audiojunky wrote:I know that Dream Theater had visited Singapore a long time back.
not so long, last year, and they were excellent, played for about 3 hours
audiojunky wrote:What about bands like Rush, Porcupine Tree etc.?
you / I wish

but it ain't gonna happen, mostly middle-of-the-road standard fare like Clapton (oh, the whining when "Tears In Heaven" was (thankfully) not performed) or Michale Buble

oddly enough I think Slipknot played here, though not my kind of thing, not what you'd expect

but...Metheny was here, Eric Johnson was here a year and a half ago, and as one poster mentioned, there were some good shows at Mosaic with TOP, Buddy Guy, Femi Kuti

I looked on Sistic before as well, and its a bit depressing. Brett Anderson (frontman for Suede and the Tears) is about the only thing I saw that was remotely interesting.

Miss Jay, are you planning on getting a group together for the July gig, or just acting as ticket merchant?

Thanks God. Good news coming after a while.

I watched Black Sabbath with Ozzy in Vienna nad Dio in Istanbul. Incredible concerts, the living legends still rock.

I will be there
With my kind regards
