Does SIA accept..?

Post by perfume » Fri, 06 Apr 2007 3:23 am

Hi all.

I know this is going to sound silly but I wonder if SIA accepts ladies/men who've gone thru plastic surgery.

And by plastic surgery I mean natural looking on the surface BUT the nose/chin/cheekbone implants whatsoever which will show up in the x ray of the medical (if I'm not wrong? I'm not too sure..)

I know the medical checkup is indeed a MEDICAL checkup.. to check for health problems.. I'm wondering if an implant will pose as a barrier because I seriously have no idea.

Thanks all in advance for the valuable input!

I can only comment on the medical.

the x-ray examination is for chest only. the face is not scanned. :)

no ideas about the implant though.

Dreamer, welcome back!

honestly I'm not sure what they are looking for during the chest X-ray. past fractures? lungs :???:

so excited to hear that you are starting training! put your phone on the loudest volume on monday yeah?

ok, back to the topic. Perfume, I've asked around and some stewardesses did plastic surgery after getting in. So I guess it shouldnt be a problem. So go ahead and try for the recruitment!

oops, missed this.

I'd expect the x-ray to be the same for ladies and gentlemen.

Any guys can help perfume confirm this? M? forzeof1?

hmmm, I dunno about lumps. I cant remember what kind of scan it was exactly -- x-ray or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)?

MRI can see different layers of tissue, if that's the one then lumps and tumours should be visible.

can you remember what it was?

another thing I can think of is the spine.

Should my memory serve me correctly, X-rays sometimes show shadows over your lungs - an indicator of possible trouble. I really can' remember what illness that may suggest though.

Possibly but please remember there may be other reasons, there are so many diseases and illnesses that one never hears about. For example last night I watched a program on Tourettes Syndrome something you may come across as a flight attendant. (will take some tolerance and understanding as will other illnesses and disablities which you may cover as part of your training.)

With regard to shadows on the lung here is one link;

Just chest x-ray to see if one has chest infections/lung diseases. SQ will have to borne your medical expenses ya know - money down the drain! So they want to make sure these kinds of problems are detected early.

Don't worry about implants (whatever they may be), they are not looking for those :)
