gia, if you don't see their work how do you know aesthetically you are on the same page as the doc? communiction is vital. your ideal if narrow might not be his idea of narrow. a picture is a thousand words. frankly, i disliked his pics. I felt he had only one look. you have to see the surgeons work yourself too aside from everything else. it's your face thats on the line!

Plastic surgery is elective surgery, it is by choice.

Reconstructive/corrective plastic surgery, sometimes due to accidents or potential health risk etc, some patients are also unhappy with the results.
It is not uncommon for any patient to feel blue after surgery, be it plastic, heart or cateract.

What we picture in our heads may not manifest 'as is' in reality; expectations are not met therefore disappointments set in.

Most times, the ps results take time to settle; anywhere from 3 to 18 months. Perhaps because ps is elective surgery, some may start having doubts and second thoughts about their decisions. We look at ourselves in the mirror at least once a day, brush our teeth, comb our hair.... more times when we've had surgery done.

Unless the ps resulted in the patient looking like a freak.... and then this is subjective again....it should be taken up with the ps doctor and not just start getting rude and slagging posters in this forum. I'm not taking sides, just hoping that everyone has some sense of responsibility and understanding when they sign their name on the dotted line in the agreement to the surgery. When in doubt, put it on hold.

Hi gia02,

But i think its rather hard for her to go back to e same doc as the doc is a private doc, which i think she cant locate him now. oh no......

Hi jovin,

U be going back to e same doc to redo e eyelid surgery? Will it be good for my cousin to go the another doc to do review since her doc is no longer in e market? Hmm... if e eyelid is low cease, will it be safe to do a higher cease?

Im rather interested to do the kai yan tao leh after seeing cupid^n^starz's
result.. wooo! 8-)

she will need to go back to the doctor who did the 1st time for her revision, this is the suggestion make by most doctor, including Dr Su.
She can cut her eyelid again but then she need to expect higher chance of complication and she may not like the result of the revision as there are high % of unsatisfactory revision job as it is much harder to do than cutting it the 1st time..

not forgotting it is highly recommended not to do more than 3 times eyelid surgery in one's life time.. thus she may like to seek best doctor for advice and suggestion before proceeding ahead..

Hey there Tanjhj,

I am reconsidering to do another eyelid revision and may i ask why do u highly recommend not to do more than 3 times eyelid surgery i one's life.
Like i told jollin before, i went to him to revised my eyelids to remove the stitches so i acn have my natural eyelids back but there is scarring in the tissue and therefore the fold is still there and still the same. Please help.

Thanks!

Jovin,

I've seen your pics. You are very lovely and have helped everyone in this forum.

It's just my opinion, so it doesn't mean too much. But, I think you got your eyes done really well... it's very pretty and natural along with everything else you did... very good decisions! Plus, it's much harder to do a redo on double eyelid and the risks are much higher...
Either way, I hope you the best of luck!
Thanks so much. You have no idea how much you have helped me in my own decisions...

It is ok if she is opting for a higher crease, i have done mine too extreme although some liked it alot. The most dificult part n risk of complication is when removing the stitches or scarred tissues.

Lokks like no one here has good advise on my problem, jovin, what do u think of my suggestion before?
regards,

gia

hi,

the reason i said do not do more than 3 times is becoz, in a taiwan PS forum, a lady did her eyelid during her early twenties and a revision a few years later and finally one more time a while later after her 2nd time. she keep redo her eyelids is becoz she dun like the eyelid job and keep going to diff doc to rework on the prev job and each time got worst. she was lucky that there is a doc which is willing to do her fourth as she keep looking for all the famous doc and none want to work on her eyelid. after that doc that did her fourth eyelid job took two seperate surgery to repair her eyelid. and the doctor told her she cut too many times and each time she cut. it become harder and harder for the doc to redo and repair, in fact even working her eyelid twice, the doc still can not fully repair her eyelid.. and that doctor who did her last time is the doc from pretty.com.tw or something..

thus i concluded try not to cut eyelid more than 3 times. the eyelid is irrevisible not like nose job, implant only, which usually is reversible. thus when cutting eyelids has to choose carefully. pay more for the best is better choice as revision is more expensive than the 1st time and also the success rate is much lower

I've done some research on epicanthoplasty but i still dont quite understand how this epicanthoplasty can do to enchance my eyes to look more define & benefits to me.. duhz
Do u have any msn messenger? if do, pls pm me... thanks
Yes, 1stly Dr chuang, why i recommend him alot is that he dun recommend procedures which he he think u dun need. thus he is not really a sales-oriented doc.

as for him to recommend epicanthoplasty only, he must have think ur eyelid is big and nice enough so he may just wanna remove the excess flab from the inner corner of your eyes to make it bigger/wider and also to make ur eyes look closer together and not so wide apart thus resulting in more harmonious looking eyes.
also after doing epicanthoplasty, u inner corner of ur eye will look sharper and at the edge

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicanthal_fold

i have PM u my msn.
Hi tanjhj,

Its been a week still no reply yet from Dr.Chuang...wonder was it that i asked him so many questions. heh.
So this epicanthoplasty can makes my double eye lid looks deeper? Is this procedure known as kai yan tou too?? Or issit that their procedues both have e same results for eyes?

Hmmm.. is ur msn automated reply one?
hmm dr chuang also only just replied my email too. he is too busy now as more customers. his nurse did mentioned that after march he should be less busy. however as i can see he is getting more job via mouth to mouth.. i should keep my finger crossed..

epicanthoplasty dun really make ur eyelid look deeper but it will remove the epicantal fold and make ur eyes look closer together, bigger, wider and more refreshed. also it will reveal the pinkish flesh in the inner corner of your eyes, which many consider as attractive. however those whose eyes are areadi look close together may not be suitable for Kai yan toh.

you can roughly see the kai yan tou effect by pinching the bridge of ur nose so the eyelid pull towards ur nose.. see if u like the result...

nope my msn not auto reply.

also if u want to make her eyes look deeper, u may need to do something like what Cupidz did. or u may ask dr chuang what he can suggest.

cheers

Today someone from this forum called my handphone when i am working and scold/advise me to stop cheating and harming ppl. kinda ruin my day as i cant concentrate on my work after that. lucky today is friday, dressdown day so the other colleagues are also not working as hard..phew.. tried to explain to him but no avail. nevermind..

what worried me is who gave him my handphone number and how he obtained it..

nevertheless, today is also a fruitful day as dr chuang finally replied after so many days to my email to clear some of the misunderstanding and rumors.

below link is his email to me abt me profiting from my recommendations. in fact he also mentioned that he is trying to give lower price to us sporean than the locals. you should feel and see how sincere he treats his patients..especially the non-taiwanese..

plz click on the picture to enlarge it for better viewing...

http://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... lednb7.jpg

below link is abt his 2nd reply to my previous email.

http://img259.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... ed1cs2.jpg

all this while, i was asking him personally for more discounts for fellow forumers' surgery with dr chuang as i told him that air tix and hotels is areadi a killer for most of us here in spore.

however in the beginning, i do have a thought of profiting by asking him and kalo for comm but then after knowing dr chuang more as we exchange emails, u will know he dun do those things one. luckily i give up the idea and didnt ask.

anyway, those 3 forumers which dr chuang mentioned in the 2nd link, i hope you can look it in a more unbias view, put the dislike for me as seperate issue and consider going back to dr chuang for ur op as u have book ur appt with him and also he has helped u all so much on your picture and words intensive enquiries. also ur own face are more impt, not me.

Hi all,

Allow me to re-introduce myself. I'm rabbit. I posted many many posts in Mar - May 2006 as I read from this forum, got some good info and took the plunge in doing a rhino in S. Korea. Unlike Jovin, I recovered and forgot to update everybody here. Sorry about that.

Until mid Apr this year, it's the 1st anniversay of my new nose. Here is the key "events" that I had (dates are rough, cos can't recall already)

1) Post op 3 days - super down, nose is big, ear is numb, thought I that I will loose the feeling of my right ear forever... (cartilage is harvested there to protect the tip of my nose from the implant). Cry every hour, so regret, almost committed suicide...

2) Post op 1.5 week - removed bandage, looks very different and nose bridge is high... but at least prettier than before, very happy, go shopping in Dong Dae Mun and keep looking at the mirror. ^_^

3) 2.5 week post op - problem started to surface... left nose got a bulging cartilage... consulted 2 to 3 plastic surgery doc in Sg. 1 is completly useless, just helped me removed the stitches behind my ear, even scare me saying Dr. Kim probably lied, gortex is not so hard, he must have used other material. Anyway, he is useless, so just cut it short. I then consulted Dr. M. Huang, another memorable experience. Very detail, but scared me again, said that my implant is not straight, incline to the right. Wow.... cry until cannot stopped. Then very obediently paid S$480 for some medicine to soften the bone / cartilage as he said and do some quite painful push to push the implant back to the position. (Actually not sure if it worked... but my implant is not 100% straight that is true, but bearable now)

4) 3 wk to 1 mth - keep finding small little stitches inside my nose, as PS doc is so dam expensive and they are no good, I decided to go to see GP, surprisingly, they are so good! Afterall, they are the real doc that wants you to get well, not wants to empty your wallet! Removed some stitches and understand more of the medicine that Dr. Huang gave me. One medicine is very effective in letting the swelling subside which I can continue to take, thought there are similar medicine, no need to get that expensive brand as the nice GP pointed out. The other medicine is not very relevent and I still have them in my frige now!

5) 1 mth - left side is still bulging out, quite worry, but need to get back to normal life and work already! Wrote email to Dr. Kim and he asked me to take any antibiotics. I think it's really crap...after the swelling subsides a bit and gets better, I told him I didn't take antibiotics cos I think if there's problem, antibiotics will just postpone the problem in surfacing... Dr. Kim asked me not to write to him anymore as I didn't want to listen to him....arh... wordless...

6) 2 mth - relocate to HK. May be it's work or may be it's weather, I start to get some big pimples on my face, incl nose.
May be during that time my nose is still not stable, anyway, the worst scenerio happend!!! Infection!!! (thunderstorm sound comes in....)

I saw a PS in HK, as expected, antibiotics (BTW, actually GP said that all antibiotics can kill the gems, if you encounter such problem, see GP and get cheap antibiotics, ok, don't be con'ed by the PS)

No use, infection get worse, from the outside it cldn't tell, but the tip of the nose is hot and there's a white patch, the cartilage is pushing the skin to a very tight stage.

I then consult another private hospital in HK which is famous for PS and had a thorough consultation. The doc gave me 4 days consecutive injection for strong antibiotics, keep eating the pills that I got fr previous doc, double dose... Doc said if it doesn't heal, must take out everything!!! Then S$10,000 will be down to drain, I thought... then cry again. 1 week later... it subsides, thanks God!!! But some problem with my bottom part (ladies problem, according to doc, the antibiotics kill any baterias inside my body, incl the good once down there... luckily it's not a permanent thing after I stop taking antibiotics...)

The PS doc in the hospital suspected the infection is caused by a giant pimple at the side of my nose and he gave me a powerful pimple cream. It helps to kill subsequent ones and from then on, I need to be careful and keep a good complextion.

Nose is smaller than before, probably the nose absorbed some cartilage which was killed in the battle.

7) Sep 06 - nose recoverd, start to dig dig a bit, not just cleaning, but to make sure there's no more stitches inside. Even after I'm back to HK, there's still 1 more to be removed by another GP, tian arh.... but this shows how powerful Dr. Kim in hiding the stitches, until his nurse can't find it, and rest of the docs can't find it too!

Then, alarmingly, I discover inside the right nostril, there's a pc of cartilage pokking out. Super worry that it may poke out... Sometimes it's quite painful too...

But very happy that the feeling of my ear come back liao!

8) Start to have some headache, worry again there may be blood clotted inside my head... all funny thinking came out. Then went for accupunture...the doc said there's a node that is blocked, ask if I had serious flu, running nose... arh...anyway, after the treatment, a few needles in my eyebrowe, the headache is less and eyebrowse area not so "pressured".

Keep on worrying the cartilage pokking out inside the right nostril, but life goes on...

9) Nov 06 - got some time, decided to go back to Korea for a 6 mth post op consultation. Saw Dr. Kim, as expected, he said that everything is ok, the pokking cartilage is nothing to worry about...He is so proud of my case... keep saying it's not easy to do, and show me the pre and post op pix... ya la, I must say there's significant improvement.

Of course I don't believe in him fully, then I went to Dr. Jung for consultation, asking if I need to re-do the nose, with him... Surprisingly, Dr. Jung said it's ok too. Dr. Jung is really a good doc, upon request, he did quite a thorough check for me, free of charge. And he won't bcos of $ and try to scare you like some PS does and ask you to re-do the ops with him. He just simply ask me not to worry, that cartilage pokking inside is ok, it won't poke out.

10) Mar 07 - cartilage is not so tense in pokking out. Am happy with the result afterall. Really happy that I took the plunge. But start saving as the maintainence fund, just in case there's anything happen, I need to go for ops again.

But no one in this world except those that I told them or my next of kin knows my op. It's so natural but significant! The thing that I'm most happy of, is the scar, which doesn't exist at all, even it's an open rhino! The alar was also wonderfully done! Dr. Kim even removed some scar caused by a lousy Dr. (Dr. Yap) when he did the so call alar reduction for me. I saw him looking at books before my op lei... tian arh and the 2 scar is just like to catapillars at the bottom of my nose...

OK, this sums up my experience, hope it's not too long. Sorry that I may not come back to this forum very often. Will try to remember to check this page again. I guess there's no need to ask me is Dr. Kim good, how do you feel now kind of questions.

Wish all potential rhinos have a smooth surgery and be happy with the result.

Rdgs,
Rabbit ^_^
