Hi, may I know if your skin is oily/combination during teens or normal to dry?
Your acne problem only happen now and not before?
Have you undergone childbirth as it will affect our hormones?
Are you heavily using Age Defying Product / Skin Renewal Products recently?
I’m certified CIBTAC Holder. I’m not going to sell you anything but if u can answer these questions, I may be able to advise you before you spend a bomb on skin specialist.

If u don feel comfy about telling me den I would just say you can approach Skin Specialist and check on the product Acutin [if the spelling is right]. My friend has acne problem like yours. She took this and it work for her. However, I’m not sure how much.

- CIBTAC is a UK Beauty Dip in Aesthetics. I’m a beautician cum makeup artist.
Do you keep simple regimen like cleansing, toning and moisturise during teens and now? Our hormonal levels change due to age, environment, food intake, health, childbirth, work stress, lifestyle. Childbirth may end your acne problem yet there's no guarantee.. some mothers suffer more skin problems..
I'm not sure how long u have started using so many products but becos of doing that which you may not know the ingredients and strength, you have irritate or might have damage your skin thus your face is very sensitive now. Skin sensitivity can cause breakouts too.
Now you should treat your sensitive skin 1st follow by your acne problem

Recommended List
Have this basic face care regimen:
Cleanse [morning n nite] – use gel-based cleanser cos they are mild. Clean off oil, dirt and don really irritate the skin. If gel irritates your skin, get a milk/lotion cleanser
Tone [after cleanse] – use a gentle toner preferably state for sensitive skin or contain chamomile, alcohol-free, fragrance-free
Moisturizer [after toner] – use water/gel based, best contain at least SPF 15.. fragrance-free, oil-free
These 3 steps will help to soothe your skin.. To achieve a glowing face is not by few days.. however your sensitivity should be tame after 2 weeks. You should be able to see less redness and feel less irritable feeling on your face unless the products you used are wrong or not suitable.
If you wish to treat your acne in conjunctionally with the regimen, simply chose a mild blemish gel and dot on the affected area [don apply whole face] after toner, let it dry den apply moisturizer..
Weekly, you can opt to do a scrub follow by gel mask or seaweed mask which is suitable for sensitive yet oily skin
If possible, take Vitamin A, C, E. .they are anti-oxidant vitamins which will help to clear your body toxic and combat again radicals. But you must take a lot of water.
If you put on makeup, ensure you clean it off properly and thoroughly.

Avoid list
-Do not use water that is hotter than lukewarm to wash your face as the heat will irritate your sensitive skin. Use tap or room temperature water.
-Reduce food intake on oily, fried and spicy items.
-Anti-aging / skin renewal products becos they are currently your skin’s enemy
-Creams based product becos they are oily.. use lotion if not gel based
-No scrubbing/exfoliating on alternate day or worst daily cause it will make the cells too active. You can only scrub once a week and best top with mask after tat
-Avoid listening too much to Sales person of particular brand becos they will sure say theirs good becos they make commission out of it. Listen yes but read the labels as well. Only buy them if u see that it is suitable. ASK FOR SAMPLES.

When sensitivity level drops, skin will slowly regain their usual routine of skin renewal process which u may find less acne popping. I hope the above is clear and helpful before u spend a bomb on skin specialist. Any doubts, u can always ask me.

HI BeetleBug,

If u seriously & deperately wants to get rid of those oils & pimples, i would suggest on 'Roaccutane', although you will have to end up spending a bomb'' on the medicine & consultation (Dr Phay @ Specialist Skin Centre, Orchard). But the results are guaranteed!! I would think that you can afford it, given your age group. (i'm only in my early 20s)
It works really, your face will go dry that that you always need to moisturise. Except for some side effect, serious dryness etc.. maybe some others, but I've only experienced dryness....

do test your pH value of your urine, i have a strong feeling you have to much yeast. Oily skin is the sign of too much alkaline in your system, I'll not advise you what to do until you get the result. You can buy the litmus papers from GNC and test yourself. I suspect your over pH8, and infection has started.

Roaccutane

Post by shootingstars » Wed, 15 Nov 2006 10:20 pm

Hey girls, here is an advice for you all. Can choose not to believe me.
For Roaccutane, doctors will usually ask you to sign a agreement letter stating those side effects. The side effects is usually dry skin, not only on your face but the skin on whole body. It may affect our organs causing womens having problem in giving birth, usually cannot get pregnant within 6months of usage.
Roaccutane will help to control the sebum(oil glands) of our skin so acne will not grow. It will only control the sebum, not stopping it. Imagine if your skin stores alot of oil during the time u take Roaccutane, when you stop taking, the sebum gets very active and acne will grow(like volcano eruption).
I have true Experience from my colleagues and my customers. When they have oily skin with a little pimples/acne, they take Roaccutane. After they stop, ALOT of acne pop out.
If you really have to take Roaccutane, do not take it for a long period. Maybe can take for around 3-6months.
Anyway, i'm also a beautician with few years of experience in a ISO company which we learned a lot of how doctor's treatment is done and it's side effect.

This might help

I had a regretful acne problem from October of last year untill May of this year. Every treatment I tried, failed. 3 dermatologists couldn't figure it out, one even tried prescribing heart medicine. Greedy bastards. It left a few scars but most have faded away in the passing months. I'm guessing it was caused by the tremendous amounts of stress placed upon me at the time. Needless to say, I have not had a pimple in quite some time thanks to B5.

The cure? Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid)

What it is :

'Coenzyme A' performs multiple functions vital to the sustenance of good health but two tasks in particular are the regulation of hormones throughout the body and the breakdown of fatty acids in the digestive tracts. Without being scientific in relation to your problem; Coenzyme A relieves stress, maintains a healthy balance of hormones throughout the body to ensure successful reproduction, and aids in the digestion of unnatural fats.

Pantothenic acid is the main compound found in Coenzyme A.

What I understand about acne:

Since Coenzyme A performs so many vital functions, a deficiency in one of the main areas listed above can cause acne or pimples to form on the skin. If you are constantly stressed out, Coenzyme A will frantically work to lower stress levels but since the body isn't perfect, it will largely ignore the breakdown of fatty acids. If you are young and growing, hormones raging throughout the body will lead to a massive deficiency in Coenzyme A, which means less Coenzyme A to deal with stress and the breakdown of fatty acids (this being the main cause of acne).

Pimples are formed when the body can not breakdown or maintain the level of fat molecules in the gut. It instead decides to excrete the fat molecules in the form of oil through the sebaceous glands (skin pores). For bacteria, this form of pure oil is highly nutritious and as can be expected, they decide to feast on the oil as it is pumped from the skin.

Your body sees this bacteria as harmful invaders, even though they're really only there for a quick snack, and being as the body cannot attack anything on the surface of the skin, it decides to trap the bacteria in hopes of destroying it. And that is how a pimple forms.

Cystic acne and nodules are formed when the body responds too harshly and decides to isolate the bacteria rather than destroy it. Or perhaps the immune system isn't strong enough to destroy the bacteria present. With more severe forms of acne, the immune system decides to kill all skin cells surrounding the bacteria and a nodule is formed. All things in nature not being perfect, this response is completely ridiculous as the bacteria will continue to replicate untill the nodule or cyst bursts, leaving your face with a nasty scar.

People commonly believe that greasy food, oily skin, dirty skin and an assortment of other false presumptions are the root cause of acne. The truth is that the slightest bit of oil intake could potentially raise a disaster scenario if not enough Coenzyme A is present in the body. Excessively washing your skin only makes acne worse as small amounts of oil excreted from your pores help create a protective shell that allows the skin to regenerate during all hours of the day.

People also believe acne only occurs for those going through puberty or coming out of it. Completely false. A large portion of teenagers will experience acne because hormonse are in full rage and Coenzyme A doesn't have enough molecules available to break down those Dorito's you ate for lunch.

One thing I've rarely heard is that acne can be contagious. But it's true. Not acne itself. The bacteria that feasts on oil are light enough to float from one person to another. If for whatever reason stress levels hit a climax, or maybe you have been eating too much greasy food lately, being near another individual with acne will expose you to the bacteria present on their skin. This is also why certain groups living in isolated areas such as Alaska, parts of Africa, South America...etc. have zero incidences of acne amongst their respective populations.

Why take Vitamin B5:

Because having excessive amounts of Coenzyme A present in the body will help you cope with stressful periods, hormone problems and the digestion of unhealthy fats. It also reduces pore sizes or so others claim; I haven't really seen a reduction in my pores but my skin is far less oily than before B5.

I first read about this from acne.org back in April. Since then and to this day I take one 500mg capsule after dinner which is 5,000% of the daily recommendation. I have not noticed any terrible side effects although I do feel that my vision has been slightly blurred.

For the first two weeks on b5, I didn't see much of a change but after the first month, the change was dramatic. After 5 weeks from starting B5, I stopped getting pimples all together.

I can't remember the last time I had a pimple but I also keep a strict regiment of 1 nightly dosage after each dinner, everyday. I have found since relocating to Singapore that GNC is one of the only stores to sell B5( pantothenic acid).

It is definitely worth a try if you haven't tried anything else.
