I'm thinking of buying a watch. Anybody has any comments on the above brands? Btw, anyone knows how much does a simple Cartier watch without diamonds costs? Or is there any other brands that I should consider?

Get a Cartier

I would go for a Cartier. I thought Cartier is considered a timepiece while Tag Heur is a watch. What's your budget like? If you have a generous budget, do invest in a timepiece instead of a dress watch as they go a long way.

I would go for a Cartier too. Tag to me is more of a sporty watch. Cartier's designs are more classic. As for mechanism, even my $100 watch can last me for yrs..so hehe..I wldn't be too bothered abt that, unless ure getting like a diving or aviation watch with all the little dials.

I snuck a peek at the price tag for a Cartier watch before, the plain ones will set u back a few thousand dollars at least.

As for other brands, what about Bvlgari, Franck Muller?

Buy a Casio G-Shock.... they are relatively cheap. A real decent one will only set U back for $3XX++. Its got digital n analog functions... allows U to see in the dark with help of an illuminator... stopwatch... etc etc... why bother paying so much for a Cartier or a Tag without the above-mentioned functions?

:D

Just joking!

yes prices of all swiss watches have increased earli tis yr, they increase every yr in fact. and as for type of watches, u have to consider ur budget and wat kinda usage. if u wan a everyday wear watch with low budget, get a basic tag. something more ex would be the Cartier, Tank Francaise or Santos. a basic Tag would cost bout 1k+ cartier is ard 4k+

as for Frank Muller, its not advisable to buy, though the design is nice. coz its over priced, just like Rolex. they dont do their own movements, parts are bought in. rather u choose Pudemars Piguet, Patek Phillippe, Piaget or some other brands with that kinda $$

i will go for tag heuer, reason being i prefer the more rugger look of it, but for classic i think cartier will be the choice.

Query

Hi, I know this is kind of off topic, but you guys seem to know your stuff and im not sure where else to post this, but I just bought a new Tag Heuer Link automatic chronograph (CT5111.BA0550) watch today and was wondering why the crown only clicks in fully sometimes, and most other times it just bounces out. just so you know how far out it sits, its at the slot before the date adjust slot (if pulling the crown out).

and when it's in this slot, if i wind it upwards, it makes a sliding sound. and if i wind it downwards, it makes a clicking sound. can anyone advise me whats happening when i do this? and why it only clicks in fully sometimes?

any help will be greatly appreciated!

PS. I bought it in town from a jewellery store, should I have got an instruction manual with it?
